A long time ago, someone had posted a program that could change the BIOS boot screen graphic into a custom one (I thought it wsa in the Lupine build, but I couldn't find it).

Does anyone know how to do this? I'd love to be able to change my boot-up graphic into something custom-made.

Not necessarily, but that would be cool, too.

I mean the graphic that comes up when you first boot your computer... usually an 8-bit low-res graphic of the windows logo, sometimes the logo for the computer or mobo manufacturer.

I think it depends on the version and manufacturer of your BIOS. I believe some of the MSI boards came with a utilitly that would let you change it. StyleXP will let you change the boot screen and the login screen in XP. I think there are a few other utilities (TweakXP or TweakUI) out there that will alow you to do it, but I know there is a possibility of fubarring your Windows installation if its not done properly. I can say I have done it successfully with StyleXP. WinCustomize might be a good place to start your venture..

Good luck with it..

careful with the BIOS as well. good chance of fubarring that too. no BIOS means no boot :(

That image is loaded from the HD, and it used to be change-able up to windows ME, but XP has a different approach. I think you can still change it, but i'm not sure quite how. I had a picture of Homer Simpson back on my ME installation, and when i tried to get it to work for XP, it wouldn't run. In fact, i remember messing up the boot data somehow. I think it's possible though, but at the time, i didn't care enough to pursue it.

As overide said its Xpstyles that does it.

The Tweak programs can do some of it but they are mainly ways to do REg hacks without know the regestry names.

Hmmm...

may have to mess around with this on an old junker before I start playing with my gaming rig.
