I woke up at 2:30am and headed to walmart around 3:30 and stood in line inside the store to get a TV they had advertised. I was the 11th person in the line and they ran out 3 people before me. So I then went to get one of the GPS they had advertised and found out there was a line about half a mile long for it. So I grabbed a few of the 4gb thumb drives they had, some clothes for my nephew and a new shop vac. Left there and headed to BestBuy for their big thing and arrived 15 min after they opened the doors and they had sold all the door buster stuff so I left and went to harbor freight. They had a few things on sale but nothing like last year and the one thing I wanted, an air brush compressor, they were out of. I picked up some heat shrink, zip ties and a stainless steel hamburger patty press. Left there and went to a clothing store in the mall and their sale turned out to be normal priced clothes just advertised as a sale. So at that point I left and headed home.
Sucked that I didn't get what I wanted but on the good side, my visa bill will be smaller.

I got off work at 5am, stopped by the house and scooped up the wifey then headed to frys electronics to see what they had goin on, specifically on hard drives. We got there and it was in fact a zoo, and when we went in one of the twelve greeters working actually said to us, "don't run." Wtf? couldn't find anything that I wanted that was on any fabulous sale, so just out of curiousity we wondered the store to see what sales they had. To be honest, I wasn't impressed. When one of the workers asked me if I needed any help finding anything, I came sooo close to saying, "Yeah, I can't seem to find any of the sales worth running for...."
So then we headed to bestbuy. (which, btw, all the same hard drives were 30-40 bucks more. I said mebbe they should have a huge sale and knock them down to the same prices as Frys.) To be fair, I did see a couple good prices on tvs, and blurays for 15 bucks, but I swear I did not see anything worth waiting in a line that wrapped around the store. Again while I was there I almost asked an employee where all the "fantastic" sales were. Meh, I was definitely not impressed but I was very very uplifted by how many people I saw buying lots of stuff. My job depends on the economy, so if spending is up, I still have a job. :)

If you are looking for a hard drive, newegg still has 2tb drives for $140. That's a fantastic deal. I almost got one, but . . .
My wife and I went to Kohls. They opened at 4, we got there at 3:50 (no way I'm camping). We were going to get a Kitchenaid artisan mixer. It was advertised at $299, with $30 mail in rebate and 15% off (which is $45). At the end of it all the total would be $225. This is a pretty good deal as long as they had a pink one.
Well, we got to the Kitchenaids and some girl had her hands on the only pink one. Good thing was she didn't want it. I got it from her and my wife and I went to the front to check out. The girl scanned it and it came up as $169. We got a calendar for my wife's grandma as well so the total after tax was $190. We got $30 Kohl's cash as well and we'll make sure that Kitchenaid donates $50 to the komen foundation.
We got some other decent deals, but that was the best one. $350 mixer (that you can find for $300 any day of the year) for $140. Nice!!!!!!

I don't get it. It amazes me that people do this every year. I suppose it's a matter of priorities, but my time (not to mention my sanity) are worth one hell of a lot more than my money. I'll make more money. The time is gone for good.
I'd much rather pay full price for whatever it is I want. In fact, I'll pay shipping and wait for it to show up at my house.

I looked through ads and didn't find anything worth going for. I stayed at home this year
Dude, get a regular compressor for the airbrush. I have a Harbor Freight 3 gallon. Not only does it drive my brush, but also a few extra air tools. It's great being able to blow up tires right here at home and not have to go to the gas station and pay.

I didn't go shopping on Black Friday this year even though I could use a few things due to my lack of money, lol. I doubt anybody would be selling the $800 Wacom tablet I'll eventually need for school anyways.
Who's ready to hear the same music played over and over again relentlessly for the next month or so? Not me!

My mom went to a store where they had a $600 dollar product on sale for $250. She was 9th in line but they only put out two. She barked until a sales associate went to look for some more in back. My mom followed her back so she couldn't lie. They had a whole palette of them (meant for the sale but the store didn't want to take the loss). My mom got it. Haha losers (the store, not you guys).

Rick, I have a large compressor, just was wanting something that didn't pull so much current at start up. My 80 gallon will dim the all the lights in my house when it kicks on. But I may head to lowes or HF today and pick up a little pancake or 3 gallon compressor. The lowes sale is still going on and they have a Kobalt one pretty cheap.

Ah, cool. I would LOVE an 80 gallon. Actually, I have one at my brother in law's, but we just have to figure out how to get it over here. It's 220v, and used to run a repair shop.
EDIT
My parents did score a nice 1080p 40" Apex LCD for $400 at Target. This presents 2 problems for me...
1. Their TV is bigger than mine. I can't have that.
2. Tech support. I've already had to make a trip over there because of user error.

just get a 220v breaker adapter thingie and plug it directly into your breakerbox!
my ex brother-in-law had one for when we were installing our hardwood floor. I will have to ask him where he got it from or if they just made it themselves.

Yea I bought mine cheap off of a contractor who was in need of $$ due to the housing market. Its an industrial Ingersol Rand thats 220v hookup. I have it about 7 feet from my breaker box in my garage wired with 10-2 and it still pulls so much current that the lights dim. I try to run it as little as possible because of that. I shot a wedding earlier today and stopped by Lowes looking for the pancake compressor and they had sold out. I will have to take a trip over to Harbor Freight again and pick up one of theirs.
I have 220 in the garage. The previous owner had a welder in there. I think I'm gonna have to take the motor and compressor off of the tank to move this thing. We tried moving it once, and 4 of us could barely get one end off the ground.

I'm generally completely broke due to massive student loans that make a loud sucking sound about the same time as my checks are direct deposited...and I still value my time over money. I wouldn't be caught dead in a line for some silly sale in the middle of the night. I'm really not sure how I feel about this type of 'event'. I guess I'll just continue being a spectator.

Yep.. coax definitely isn't the way to go. I hooked theirs up with RGB because they don't have HDMI cables, and I refuse to let them buy them at the store. www.monoprice.com is the place for cables and mounts.

It took 4 of us to load it on my trailer and then to set it on the ground on a movers dolly. Actually it was a bigger PITA to run the drain line so I just put a barbed fitting on it and have a 40' hose I will attach to it when I drain it.
Back on topic.. My mother wound up getting most of her Christmas shopping done on Friday. He best purchase was a new kitchenAid Dishwasher she got for 30% off with free installation from Lowes.

Christmas sprawl started earlier than usual here...a local radio station has been playing holiday music since the end of f***ing August! Seriously. In 20 years the "Christmas season" will be starting at the end of January and consumers will be raping local stores for next years' gifts after they get done opening this years' gifts. I cannot believe the stories of people being trampled under foot so the mob can snag the best deals...it just seems so unreal.:( I will have no part in any of that.

I picked up a large compressor from work. After we moved to this new building they tossed the old one out since they didn't want to pay to have the hoses re-run. I had to bring in a trailer to get it home and only found out afterward I could not run it at home due to the power requirements.
I finished 90% of my christmas shopping in August. Still 3 more presents to buy...

What Christmas is about? How about inventing a holiday and timing it to coincide with the winter solstice to overshadow the celebrations of the pagans...

Most of the traditional feasts for the saints are arbitrarily chosen days, or syncretism. Why do you think All Hallows Eve is the same day as Samhain?
I could go on, but it was a tactic used to encourage conversion, by adding feast days for saints, etc that would have been celebrated anyway to days they were already celebrating. Nice little move there.
The meaning for my celebration of Christmas is not the same as a solstice celebration, though.

The Christians purposely chose certain dates to celebrate holidays to detract from the pagan rituals that they were uncomfortable with. It was also a ploy to hasten conversion. All Saints Day was also moved to coincide with All Hallows Eve for the same reason.
Whatever the original reasoning, the intent of Christmas was to celebrate the birth of of the Christian Prophet and son of their deity, Jesus, even though most biblical scholars and theologians agree that December 25th is not even close to the day he was supposedly born. Christmas is supposed to convey a time of caring for all of mankind despite what religion each one worships (or lack of religion). Now days it is all about who gets the best deals on useless crap and who can get to the front of the line first. Capitalism at it's best!

Since I wrote nothing but the truth, I don't understand. I learned this during my many years taking theology classes at a Jesuit college. They had the best Information Technology Management course in the area (at the time) and the theology classes were a requirement for the course at their institution. A real eye opener for sure. The study of the world religions should be a required class in every high school.

My cousin got a 56" LCD through some buyers club today at some ridiculous price. But he pays $14 a month to be in the club and he may only buy 5 things a year so I dunno if the membership fees are worth the discounts.
