We are looking for a new "Rating Widget" to provide manufactures to place on their site of products we have reviewed. You can click here (http://www.nzxt.com/products/panzerbox/) and look at other sites "Rating Widgets" NZXT has displayed. I do not have a prize to offer yet but I promise that the winning design will get something nice and you will also get a medal for a design challenge win on your profile and +rep from at least 5 staff members.

So here are my requirements.

Size. Must be a square of 100px X 100px
Must have "TBCS" or the official TBCS logo in it somewhere.
Must have the words "Approved" or "Recommended" somewhere in it
Graphics can be anything you can think up or design.
If in GIMP or Photoshop you must save the full PSD or Design file with layers so we can easily change it as needed.

Have fun and we are looking forward to all your entries.

Do we just post entries in this thread?

Also, do you want the rating included in it? (IE the 5/5 or 4/5 etc ?)

Yea just post a jpg, png or gif in this thread and You can do one of each of the following if you would like. We will select the ones we like and get the design file from you then.

TBCS Approved [one with out a rating, one of each with a 3 star, 4 star, and 5 star rating]
TBCS Recommended [one with out a rating, one of each with a 3 star, 4 star, and 5 star rating]

You can get creative too. Maybe something like TBCS Gold Award or Silver Award or even a Platinum Award.

We just need something that will represent the site well and look good at the same time. I designed our current rating stamp but once manufacturers shrink it down it looses the stamp feel. The design this challenge is about is just for them to place on their sites.

Have fun.

I freely admit there isn't a lot of originality or design in these - they're very very heavily based on existing site graphics, but I figure that means that 1, they're truly representative of the site, and 2, they'll fit in perfectly with the current site....

Here is an idea that needs someone who is better at Photoshop or Gimp:

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w28/codexpirate/approve_logo.gif
Put the stars along the top and the approved, recommended, or reviewed messages along the bottom of the TBCS logo. I'm not really good enough with Photoshop elements or Gimp to make this really look nice at the 100 pixel scale, but I thought the idea was good enough to share with you guys.

Here's one I'm working on. I'm afraid it's a bit too busy, but it has everything it needs to.

This is a computer mod site. What about a widget using dremels instead of stars or bars?

(I give the above idea 4.5 dremels!)

To keep our butts out of the fire we would probably have to say 4.5 rotory tools.

I made these a long time ago, but it seems they weren't widely loved. One note about the inclusion of the words "approved" and such; The way I see it is the stamp should not be a rating system and include the word "approved". I think it should be one or the other because we wouldn't want to rate something at a one and also call it approved would we? So where is the cut-off then?

The purpose of this stamp or what ever we want to call it is for manufacturers to display it along with the link to our review of their products. We only need 1 or 2. "approved or recommended" or "silver award or gold award" These will no replace our current rating system that goes on our reviews they will just be featured on the manufacturers site along with a link to the review we did of their product.

Ah, then it isn't a "rating widget" so much as a seal of approval correct?

Oneslowz28

Yes you are correct. Looking back through the thread I see that I didn't clarify my self on what exactly we were looking for.

So keep designing guys. I am heading to a tool store Monday or Tuesday to pick up something for my mod and I will pick up a thing or 2 for the creator of the design we pick.

A few more - cos I was bored - could even use em all, after all, they're kinda like different levels of approval from "yeah, this works and it's pretty cool", to "good product, we likey!" and "Hell yeah, buy one!"

is this thing still going on? well anyway, I got some quick and simple thingies here:

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j139/rstakelbeek/TBCS-approved.png
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j139/rstakelbeek/TBCS-recommended.png
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j139/rstakelbeek/TBCS-best_buy.png

Maybe they look better with a black back-ground, but that messed up the edges of the logo I have...

Well it kinda fell off of the radar - we never actually got to the point of choosing one so I figure it's still open to all-comers

Are there any updates on the TBCS Design Challenge, and have there been discussions or decisions regarding the rating widget designs submitted?
