Door to Chassis Power connector concept.

In my COD MW2 worklog I mentioned wanting to make a Chassis to Door power connector so I did not have to unplug led and fan wires every time I opened the case. Here is my concept. If you have another idea on how to achieve this please post it.

The connector with the long side would attach to the door and the other to the inside of the case. There would be two 12v pins and 1 ground. The pins could be made from anything conductive and could even be a screw.

That's a good idea. I hate having to fumble with a too-short 3-pin with the side of the case blocking my view into my case every time I fiddle around inside. (I'm too lazy to find one of my extensions, OK?)
I'd suggest using magnets either as the contact points or around them to make sure the contact is secure. It would probably be even more annoying if you had to tap the side of the case every 10 minutes to turn the fan back on.:D

I have been thinking of magnets too. I am going to buy a fresh pack and test for the resistance they may add.

Etch a few PCBs. They'll do it just fine.

I was actually thinking about that too. I did a quick and dirty board in Eagle. I think what I may do is ask TT for a few of their connectors they put on some of their new cases and see what I can hack together.

In that beautiful mod cygnus x1 over on bit-tech, he uses magnets with leads on them built purposefully for this exact thing. they would be your best bet. not sure where he got them from (I believe he is in AUS and got them locally) but they seemed to work really well for LEDs at least.
