OMG is right! That phone is damn slick, and it has every feature anyone would need.

Looks nice and solid; I like it a better than the HD. Too bad it doesn't have a physical keyboard...and an OS that's not WinMo :( Ah well, I guess I'll just go back over to my N900 ;) (Speaking of which, I should be posting a review of it before the end of the week..only about a month late, but hey, better late than never, right?)

I can live without the keyboard, although I do really wish it wasn't WinMo. It looks like a pretty polished version, but still.

Who wants to bet how much this baby is going to cost at release? I bet its going to be upwards toward a thousand dollars with a two year contract.

It's been out for a bit. $800 w/o a contract. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875502039&Tpk=htc%20hd2)

If it had a KB I would buy it in a heartbeat, maybe less. I love this phone, but I can't bring myself to use a touchscreen KB. I can't stand using one on my ZuneHD.

My ideal phone:

2gb ram
16gb storage + MicroSD slot
FM tuner
FM TRANSMITTER (no more cables to hook to stereo!)
TV Output
GPS
slide out keyboard
1ghz cpu
Choice of OS
highres LCD screen with multitouch
3.5mm headphone jack, and mini USB
Wifi, Bluetooth
Small solar panel on the back for charging assist (every little bit of power helps!)
big battery life

Well, it's got 1GB of RAM (well, 256MB with 768 dedicated virtual memory) and a 600MHz ARM chip, not a 1GHz..and no built in solar panel...but other than that you basically just described the N900 ...oh, except that it has 32GB onboard storage, not 16 ;)

And choice of OS, the N900 runes Maemo right?

I just wish SE would let us Xperia X1 owners upgrade to WinMo 6.5 and later 7. We can do it, but it's a hacked up HTC ROM file.

N900 has an FM tuner and an FM Transmitter?!

Well, it does have almost an inch more of screen space. I'm sure they put that to good use as far as the keyboard goes. But I do agree anyways, physical keyboards are nice and don't require that bit of learning curve/always looking.

Yes, but since you have full access to the hardware, it should be fairly simple to put Android on it if you want. I know at least the majority of the hardware is supported, since it shares a lot of the hardware with the Droid (and the iPhone 3GS, for that matter).

N900 has an FM tuner and an FM Transmitter?!

Yup. By default the transmitter broadcasts all audio when it is turned on, so I haven't tried tuning it to itself...though I imagine that would be...interesting...

Well, I wouldnt want to do that. Haha.. feedback symphony probably..

Anyways, that's really freakin' cool! I tried to hack up an old FM transmitter for my ipod to accept the 3.5mm jack input, and tied it to my cell phone, but it really didnt work very well, and the frequency drift was unbelievable.

Heheh, yup. It even comes with a little desktop widget that lets you turn on and off the FM transmitter without opening anything up. :D

The Nexus One has been torn apart and it has a FM receiver and transmitter. I'd look into that, but reviews of it were so-so.

I don't see why people slam the M$ Mobile software,

Its very stable, runs fast, is very customisible (Or you can leave everything as stock) you have the ease of adding stuff later (Like bluetooth GPS if yours doesn't have one)
Memory management is good, was the first phone software to support true multi tasking, theres a huge endless list of apps you can find for winMobo most of which are free.

The new phones froml htc are using TouchFlo3D as the home screen, and i have to say when i was using mine it was so0ooooooo brill! wish i had one now if O2 didn't decide to discontinue them unless your a business customer!

I have an Android and a WinMo phone, and both are excellent. Another +1 to the continued proliferation of multiple OSes.

Granted it's been a while since I used WinMo (~2 years), but the deal killer for me was the lack of free apps specifically, and good apps in general. Ok, maybe I'm cheap for wanting free apps, but when there's only one good IM client, and it costs $15... I guess it's really just like desktop OSs, really; it all depends what you do with it.

Free IM? What for? MSN? I'm using Windows Live Messenger on my HTC Touch Pro (WHOO! UPGRADED!) and it works very well. I also use zsIRC for IRC based stuff and also wkTask so it's sort of like using windows.

AIM and G-talk. Finding dedicated programs for each was hard enough, but for a multi-account program, I tried a couple trial versions and the only one that was actually useful was ~$15. IIRC, I couldn't find a single piece of open source software for any purpose for WinMo. Like I said, this was about 2 years ago, so idk if the situation is any better now.
