I am Christina.I am new to this site, but I’ve enjoyed posting in your forums.Welcome to the forum.I have to say all of you "Merry Christmas"."We Wish You a Merry Christmas" is a popular secular sixteenth-century English carol from the West Country of England. The origin of this Christmas carol lies in the English tradition where wealthy people of the community gave Christmas treats to the carolers on Christmas eve such as 'figgy puddings' that were very much like modern day Christmas Puddings. It is one of the few traditional holiday carols that makes mention of the New Year celebration. The song is often parodied.Thank you very much and Stay connected with me.

All of these users have 1-4 posts, they are all very similar in grammar and structure. While not "off topic" or blatant spam, they are all very unusual, and most of them have similar sigs too.. "webcam" or "ginseng".

The most obvious conclusion is a spambot... but yet, no blatant spam. Could we be a test bed for a new spam system, which is "learning" to blend in? Or is this simply the postings of some new user(s?) who are a little bit.. off.

What about the possibility of guerrilla marketing.. there was a company a while back that was creating user accounts on message boards, gaining trust, and then using that trust to market products. Jackmood mentions their software company.. perhaps that's worth investigating.

Are all these accounts from the same IP? If so, multiple user accounts is in violation of the rules, is it not?

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

We are currently watching them. The staff does know about these posters, but so far no TOS violations (except a siggy link and that has been removed and the owner notified).

christ11 and jonnydep have the same IP and we are checking into that as well..

I've seen some of these and just figured English was not their native tongue...but now that they are all together, they do seem strange.

As for spambots fitting in, I'm the new and improved Spambot 6000.;)

The latest is the wonderous benefits and features of the PS3 Slim, from Colemancol.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were more "Guerilla Marketing" instead of a spambot. Sometimes it's cheaper and more effective to hire millions of workers at pennies per post to add a sense of realism to it.

It would be damn near impossible to effectively manage that sorta spam.

I think I said it in a different thread a minute ago, but worth mentioning again. I like spam. But only when it's fried and next to some eggs on my plate.

I've noticed a bunch of these cropping up too....and I'll admit a couple fooled me at first...*shakes fist at colemancol*... It is a strange new trend though...I've noticed most of them seem to be using the same sigs. I'm with Ichbin, I think it must be some sort of guerrilla marketting...though I can't imagine for what..which would seem to imply that it's failing rather drastically. I've also noticed that sometimes they'll recycle posts, or at least segments of them, specifically the:

I think their English interpretation skills are about as keen as their writing skills...they probably have no idea what they are doing here either. That makes it all the more fun!:D
