just found this today...I've never in my life bought a pre-assembled computer (for my own use; I've bought them for others). But this comic linked above is one of the reasons why I make 'em myself. Cuz in my head, I'm not a moron. Yeah.

I should also add that that website is a GREAT way to waste time, especially when you have a mod you ought to be working on.... :P

another awesome one...I especially appreciate this since I create graphics for a living, and have to deal with requested changes by managers every day...
and

LOL it sure seems that way sometimes. But whenever a request is particularly egregious, I use MS Paint instead of Photoshop. Redneck-level request = redneck level software used to complete said request.
Actually, I work for an environmental consulting firm in southern CA, and I create or assemble graphics (typically photos of a building site, architectural plans, maps) for the environmental impact reports. I get to do some 3D modeling as well, creating visual simulations as well as shadow simulations, where I make a model of the building and use sketchup's magical shadow casting powers to show where the shadow of the proposed building will hit. I also have a little experience with GIS and use ArcGIS from time to time. Before this job, I went to 3D computer art school at Cogswell in Sunnyvale, CA (not to be confused with Sunnydale, CA, which exists only in Buffy-world) near San Jose. Picked up some 3D modeling skills and sculpting/drawing skills that I never use anymore LOL. Well, at least until I start building my Rivendell mod. :D

Nice! I was just curious, I am self-taught at photoshop (translation=chump) but I'm trying to pick up how to create and edit video currently using Adobe After Effects. It's pretty fun actually.

yeah video editing can be pretty fun. Haven't used After Effects myself, but in my video editing days I used to use Premiere. Back when it was version 6. Man...the memories. Used to have an analog video capture card (Pinnacle DV500) and a VCR... LOL seems so antiquated now!
On the flip side, for about a year before I sold the card, I ran my DVR box to it and recorded every single episode of the American version of Whose Line is it Anyway? I like to think I'm the only one out there with a 35 DVD set of all 210-ish episodes :D
