these two items are only related in that I need both to finish my case...

anyone have any ideas on a duct to go from my cpu heatsink to an outblowing fan?

the outblowing fan is attached to the upper part of the case (not pictured); it's just above the rear part of the video card (air blows back toward the PSU right now). The problem I'm facing that I didn't have with my old dual core AMD is the quad core gets a lot hotter, and all that hot air is blowing right back into my PSU fan, causing it to get real warm. I *could* flip the CPU fan around to blow the other way, but then that hot air doesn't really have anywhere to go, and it'd be blowing right onto the RAM chips. Ducts sold at retail all seem to be cylindrical (good) but the mounting points are square (bad). I need something I can attach to the heatsink, then snake around and sit atop the video card so it's open end is pointed up, into the slight vacuum created by the outblowing fan.

Mineral oil - any ideas where can I buy a small bottle (I live in southern CA)? I just need some to mix with vaseline to create a mold release mix for some things I'm sculpting for my case.

thanks!!

How about a dryer vent hose...

They also make smaller sizes for various automotive applications in both metal and vinyl.

I'd be wary of vinyl, just for the possibility of static build up. :)

mineral oil - check your local wal-pharmacy/department store :)

ah...I'd wondered, thanks billygoat. decided this morning that for once I'd be smart and ask before running all over the place and potentially wasting a couple hours.

dryer duct...good idea! the tube portion should be large enough diameter, just have to cut it down to size. And figure out what kind of metal it's made from so as to do it in a way to avoid potential shorts.

pretty sure its made out of aluminum. at least the flexible part is, not sure about the rings. can always wrap the part you are worried about in non conductive tape. or you could maybe use pvc pipe? or cardboard? just some other ideas.

just got some mineral oil at Target (didn't realize the stuff was also used to relieve constipation...) and got a 4" x 8' dryer hose with a metal clamp. Sure hope it fits...at first I was looking at the semi-rigid tubes, but there's no way they'd bend tightly enough, then I found the tubes that are basically crumpled foil wrapped around a spring. It bends a lot tighter and I'm hoping if it still has fitting issues I can sort of mush it and dent it into place. I'll find out tonight and post a pic or two if it works.
