I want one soooo bad! Too bad it's way too expensive. Although, when it's docked, you are getting quite a bit of power. Hmm. What do you guys think? Is it worth a grand or not so much?

I'm voting yes for now, but I would have to see how the Linux distro is used. What would I use the tablet for?

Good question. Is it even a touch screen?? It would be next to useless without a touch screen. Hmmm.
I'd probably use it for reading, as a notepad, drawing... I can't think of too many things where a tablet is more useful than a regular notebook/laptop/netbook. But there's a few I suppose. It probably gets much better battery life.

The real advantage I see to a tablet (touch screen assumed, isn't part of the definition of a tablet?) is that you can draw on screen wacom style, but I don't think Adobe CS software works in Linux, or am I mistaken?
The other option I see is something like an oversized iPod or Zune for watching stuff on the go, but it loses the appeal in battery life and size. Cool tech nonetheless.

it would be cool if you could still use the 1ghz processor in conjunction with the dual core somehow. lol like have it be the graphics processor or something. now that would be an interesting idea...

WHAT IF you could pull the tablet, and run a remote desktop connection to the base machine? Or to another machine? Then you could have basically have a full blown high powered desktop, that you can carry around with you (within range of WIFI obviously). A fast enough connection would mean very little latency... probably not low enough for gaming, but you could likely do rendering/modelling with it, maybe some photo or video editing..?
Streaming video to the tablet might be nice too.. laying in bed, watching a tv show or something?

This is my thinking...
Base is worth how much when compared to notebooks of similar specs? Then how much is the tablet worth using the same method?
I came out to be like $900. But hey, that's still a $100 cheaper so technically not worth $1000. lol
Intriguing concept. I have the creeping suspicion though, that when it's docked the tablet is just acting as a monitor, and isn't actually booted up. What I would love to see though, would be something like this that instead of running a separate OS on the base station, would instead let the OS on the tablet take it over on the fly. I'm sure it would be a nightmare of compatibility issues, but it sure would be awesome; use it as a tablet when I want something small and light, add a keyboard, battery, and more powerful processor for when I need something with more power on the road, and stick it in a dock to hook it up to my desktop when I get home.

I'm with you 100% on that. :)
