mods, I searched the site to see if there was another thread like this. if there is, feel free to merge this with it.

Anyways, I just got done reading all the books I checked out at the library and would like some suggestions from you all for what to read next. And I also was curious what you are currently reading!

I just finished:
The Lost Symbol - Dan Brown
Dearly Devoted Dexter - Jeff Lindsay (part of the book series that the showtime show Dexter is based off of if you didnt know ;) )
and read some of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass stories.

(of course school starts up next week and I probably wont have much more time for reading for enjoyment, gotta study a lot better this semester :P )

just re-read Watership Down.

Now reading a book about John Harrison, the guy who invented mechanical clocks in the mid 1700's that could keep accurate time at sea and thus allow the calculation of longitudinal position.

Also I intend to start reading Terry Goodkind (Sword of Truth series), re-read Tolkein's books at some point, and I will be all over the next Patrick Rothfuss book (The Wise Man's Fear, sequel to Name of the Wind) as soon as it's published.

Going to be re-reading a couple Peter Mayle books (Year in Provence & Toujours Provence, both hilarious), as well as re-reading I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb, and reading the next couple Janet Evanovich books.
Also re-reading War and Peace off and on. :P no joke

Fablehaven by Brandon Mull (kids book, but good for light reading. sort of reminds me of Harry Potter or something.)

Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind (lots of books in the series and very adult/mature. Probably some of the best books I've ever read, although it gets a bit dull after book three.)

Artemis Fowl (Again, kids book, but fun and just good for light reading. Interesting roles in the book. The main character is a bit villainous.)

I'm about to start reading a series called Septimus Heap. I believe they're for the younger crowds or at least can be, but I've been into those a lot lately. They're just fun and light to read. Not so serious like say Sword of Truth.

I sort of have a thing for Fantasy novels if you haven't noticed. lol

I just read The Kite Runner, and now I'm starting a Thousand Splendid Suns. Kite runner was very interesting and nothing like the movie, although the movie was still good. I plan to re-read The Road before I see the movie.

For geek books, I'm reading "Practical Electronics For Inventors" which is a little advanced for me right now I have to sometimes read the same thing about 6 times. I'm also about to read the book I plan to buy off of Datech, and a book called "Relays to ROM."

I don't know your current situation, whether you just bought a dog, or she wants you to buy one but you must know something. Dogs are amazing, no matter what breed. They definitely have a sense to tell what mood you are in because whenever mad or sad they know exactly what to do.

Also dogs are probably the best stress relievers, they always want to be loved and patted. They are a pain in the ass to train they are totally worth it. Lastly, they know how to deal with one person from another; they know to be gentle around the elder, and playful around the younger.

I'm on book 6 of the sword of truth series and I agree its kind of slow in areas but the amount of pure awesome that is in those books is amazing. Zephik and I have almost the exact same reading habit it seems. But at this moment I have Faith Of The Fallen (The Sword of Truth book), The American Sign Language, And all my Brit. Lit. school reading that is pretty much killing all my time for reading.

I hadn't heard of that one before; wikipedia description sounds interesting, I'll have to find it. Niven is one of my all time favorite authors, and he's done some great work with Pournelle.

Oh my GOD, a Niven fan that hasn't read Lucifer's Hammer. Wow. Read it. Now. Stop reading this and go out and get it. If you can't afford it, steal it. (No, not really.) It's an awesome book, some of his best work. I still like The Integral Trees better, that's my favorite of his, but it's followed closely by Lucifer's Hammer and Footfall.

I am currently reading The DaVinci Code again, and just finished the 7-book series War of the Spider Queen for the third time. I need some new books.

For fantasy I love anything by RA Salvatore, and plan to get the Transitions books next.

For sci-fi I'm a huge Niven and Heinlein fan.

Doh! I just went over to my bookshelf to try and decide what my favorite of his works is....and realized that Lucifer's Hammer is there... Looking through it a little, I remember it now! Yeah, that was a really good one. I think my favorite of his work, though, is actually the short story collections set in Known Space and the Draco Tavern. I guess the biggest part is that I love the Known Space world, and most of that is built in short stories.

I would have to say though; my favorite author of this era and possibly all time is definitely Orson Scott Card. In my mind, Ender's Game is the single best piece of Science Fiction ever written, and the rest of the Ender and Shadow sagas are just so amazing. I don't think I have ever read anything that he has written that a) I didn't love, and b) I could actually put down for more than a few minutes.

I just recently finished Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover, and I'm working on getting through Baby Step 2 at the moment.

Over the past two years I read the entire Halo book series, which is pretty interesting. I also re-read The Da Vinci Code recently, then went through Angels and Demons and The Lost Symbol.

I also read The Lovely Bones a few months ago, which is coming out as a movie in a few days. I was very pleasantly surprised with the book, and it kept my attention the entire time.
