Anyone else seen the last episode with conan o brien as the host of the tonight show?

HERE (http://www.hulu.com/watch/122598/the-tonight-show-with-conan-obrien-fri-jan-22-2010) it is if you haven't.

I thought it was one of the better shows O'Brien has done period. (i.m.o)

I watched it. His last 3 shows were the funniest he has ever been. He was still no where close to Leno funny. Jay is an awesome comedian and hes a car nut who also owns a 3d printer so I am glad he is back.

Personally, I think whoever decided it was a good idea to put Conan on the Tonight show should be paying that ridiculous severance package out of their salary.

CJ, he actually uses the 3D printer to print the parts he needs FOR his cars so he can make a mold of it and then cast it. Genius I say!

I never did catch any of his shows.

I am for a sure a big fan of Leno, have been for a long time. This whole switching everybody was just a mess. I feel bad for Conan though cause nobody wants him right now.

I can see forty million reasons not to feel bad for the guy.

I loved Conan, way more than Leno. Conan has been a writer for the Simpsons, the Office, and other shows as well. Leno was never that funny, at least in my opinion.

Sad to see that he is done. His show was the best ever.

There's more to it than just money. Sure, he got 33 million bucks, and his staff of 200 got to split up the other 12 million.... But now he will be known for failing on The Tonight Show and not only that but now no network out there is interested in having him. That has to be a big blow to the ego, to know that no one wants you to do a show on their channel.

There has been much speculation on where that might be. ABC (which airs "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!") has said it wasn't interested, while Fox, which lacks a network late-night show, expressed appreciation for his show — but nothing more. Comedy Central has also been mentioned as a future home. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100121/ap_on_en_tv/us_tv_leno_o_brien)

Unless someone died, I can't see how the above sentence can end badly.

Just how sorry can you feel for the guy, really? I don't know about you, but I have a hard time thinking of the blow to my ego that 33 million dollars couldn't fix up very nicely.

Wait what? What are you even talking about?

There were a few times the late night show was almost canceled. If you remember far back enough, there was about 8 months where they ran old SNL episodes. Can't tell you when, but i remember it happening.

I'm absolutely positive in 7 months he'll have a talk show somewhere else.

one of the things i most liked about conan was all he did for new bands and new music. What the Red Stripes, Evanescence are the two that pop in my head right away, but you know there has to be countless amounts.

You know i always liked jay leno's style of comedy plus he always knew how to give a honest interview with some one. and alot of his bits are pretty funny.

I'm not even sure why this all happened to be honest. I mean if you agree to some stuff of that caliber, I'd hope you could live through with what you said, you know at least longer for 7 months and see how it pans out.

To be honest i thought i'd be Leno hosting a show on HBO, not O'Brien.

Well, the big reason it happened was that Leno's new show has sucked, both in critical response and in the ratings, so they wanted to get Leno out of prime time. They were going to move Leno's show to 11:30 and put the tonight show at 12:00. Conan didn't like this, not because he didn't want to be on late (he did it for years on the Late Show), but because he felt that having a tonight show on when "tonight" was technically over didn't make sense. It would no longer be the tonight show that is has been in NBC's history for so long. In the last episode he talked about how much he loved NBC and how hard it was to make the decision to go, but I think he was doing what he felt was the right thing to do for the network and himself. I respect conan a lot for that.

He didn't ruin the tonight show either. It's been doing pretty well, especially considering the influx of clone shows on almost every other network. Any dip in ratings has as much to do with that as anything else. Conan will have plenty of work and there are tons of people who still want him around. He'll probably even work for NBC again soon.

I think there is another thing that hasn't been mentioned. A big chunk of the ratings gripe wasnt with the Jay Leno show, or the Tonight show except by circumstance. The local NBC station news were loosing viewers big time. They were the first to complain to NBC.

There are many folks out there that would watch the local news and then watch the monologue from the Tonight Show and then go to sleep. So when Jay went on to prime time, a lot of viewers were tuning out of the local news and just going to bed or whatever after Jays show. Which also means they weren't sticking around to watch Conan.

As for whomever made the deal to put Conan on the Tonight show.. that was penned years ago. There was an agreement that when Jays contract expired in 2009 that Conan would replace Jay.

I like them both. I do feel sorry for Conan to a degree, he worked for 20+ years for NBC from the ground up. Aspiring to become the host of NBC's flagship the Tonight Show. A show that has been on the air for 56 years. He finally reaches his goal and then this fiasco happens 7 months later. I don't care how much money they give you, that's gotta be a kick in the gut. I do think he will end up doing well after this. Who knows, isn't about time for Letterman to retire?

Heck if I had it my way, I wouldn't mind seeing them Jay and Conan alternate weeks or something like that.

What he said I never thought he was that funny my favorite late night guy is Craig Ferguson but, that's just my two cents
