Need Opinions, But not in to much of a hurry.
So right now my parts are...
AMD X2 6000+ (65nm) 3.1Ghz
Msi 7327 mATX board (haha sucks)
Evga 8800GTS SSC 640MB
2048MB DDR2-800
Enermax Noisetaker 600W
Now i've had the chance to pop the 8800SSC in my buddies computer paired with a AMD X4 965 @3.871Ghz, And it kicked ass, More ass then his 9800GT. So i know its a keeper.
This is what im thinking.
MSI 770-C45 AM3 AMD 770 ATX (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130228)
79.99 (Inside of my computer is red)
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727)
189.99 (Going to OC)
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277)
93.99 (Going to OC)
363.97
Opinions?

monies in (4,950.34), Even though yall seem to not care.
will post pictures when/if i get those parts, but so far.. bills are small and ol' kiddo is provided for to the fullest.
that means daddy gets to splurge on some computer parts.

those parts look pretty good for 400 bones. :D\
I wish I could splurge. I just paid down my credit cards though, so next big check (tax returns perhaps?) I am thinkin bout blowing on a new desktop.

What a shame! That $400 could easily buy me a new GPU or two...but you're wasting your money on you.:D

I'm still debating on tossin' in a SLi board and another 8800GTS SSC edition.
Hard to come by though, extremely hard.
But this ought to set me up with the ability to get a new (nvidia) Direct X 11 card sometime..... mid to late 2010....maybe.
defiantly starting to feel the pain with this X2 6000+ though
only get 25-35fps on GTAIV on the lowest of the low settings 1920x1200 (i ain't running lower then 1920x1200, looks like crap on this monitor) hopefully with the new quad and some ram i can bump it up to medium high settings.
lol my car density on GTA4 is "3" any higher and my processor s@#$'s a brick.
however with my buddies computer he can crank it up above 20 and still have a playable state. (hes got the X4 965)

Agreed. If you're looking to go further though, I would highly recommend adding a second 4GB RAM set. I think that would give you a more noticeable performance boost than another 8800GTS (especially in GTA4; I was getting intermittent lag in that until I went up to 8GB, and that was with my current rig!).

you think so? I've been running 2048MB in XP (32bit) rather fine, 60-78% usage.
man i remember if you had 128MB PC-133 you were stylin', now x88x is telling me 4,000 ain't enough :\
i dont think ram gets really any faster then DDR3-1600 right? should i get slower ram, just a higher amount?

Unless you are using some really memory intensive apps 4GB should be plenty. You can always toss in another set of sticks down the line, as 4GB dimms are outrageously priced anyway.
I haven't kept much eye out for which mobo's on the AMD side are good, so I can't comment much on that. The ripjaws are supposed to be pretty nice ram, so you should do great with those, and they match your theme.
I'd go with the platform upgrade, and worry about the gpu down the line.

790FX-GD70. Commit that to memory. Any questions, that's the board I hit 4GHz on.

Haha, it's not that 4GB isn't enough, it'll just (in my experience) give you the best performance boost for your money, so if you had another $100 to throw in, that's where I would put it.

Well, you can get up to DDR3-2200, but really for top speed you're usually gonna be limited by your MBB. I would go ahead with the DDR3-1600; it looks like there's not really any price drop for lower speeds, so you might as well get the faster stock.

Or lots of semi-memory intensive apps ;) ...or GTA4... :whistler:

thanks for the info man, since the kiddo, haven't really kept up with the computer industry outside Point of sales style stuff that i work with/on.
Still panning out the motherboards though, Got any suggestions?
requirements,
under 100$
Not Blue or any weird color, must match this color theme (red/black/chrome).
-gguangG-Ds
Probably single Slot X16 pci-e. with as many PCI slots as possible.

Under 100, I can tell you you'll be disappointed in the overclocking for sure.
That said, there still might be some hope out there. I'll look around after I get off work.

by the looks of that msi board, i'll just have to add heatsinks to the VR's and swap the north/south bridge heatsinks out for active cooling and i'm set to see jesus in the bios.
I've really never known MSI to be crappy mainboards. Got my XP 3200+ to 2.8Ghz (they were 2.2) on my K7n2.
this X2 6000+ is already as fast as this architecture can go i think (3.110Ghz)

So i'm think i'm actually set with those parts and i'll try and order them in a week or so.
only difference is I'm going with the 955 instead

The MSI 770 C45 board you are looking at / going to buy just got another nod from bit-tech as the motherboard of choice for their monthly all-rounder rig.
Bit Tech Monthly What Hardware to Buy (http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/buyers-guide/2010/02/03/what-hardware-should-i-buy-february-2010/1)
So it definitely isn't a bad board.

????? 10.99 it'd cost me 6.00$ with that gift card.
[edit] hell yea, 10 rectifiers on that mainboard and thats a 10 pack of heatsinks.
teh matches mades in teh heavenz

Other then the northbridge/south bridge. Am i missing anything that needs special attention when overclocking on this motherboard?

Just the normal things like MOSFETs, CPU, GPU, RAM and PSU.

oh i was talking about on that mainboard itself.
if i got the 10 pack of rectifier heatsinks (mosfet), if theres anything else that needed to be cooled on that mainboard.
But im not seeing it.
[edit]
parts should be here friday. (tommorow)

I think what you've highlighted are actually RF chokes.
