Got my new cd player all installed and wanted to show it off. got a cool mod idea for that blank plastic up above the head unit. The new pioneer premier player I have has built in Ipod control, so I was thinking about making a pop out tray that would house my ipod so I dont have to run it to my glove compartment.

EDIT: I also wanna change out my climate control lights to blue leds to match my new HU. lol its gonna be ricey as hell, but hey, it will still look cool. 8)

Saturn FTMFW!

this is my baby. lol its a '95 SL1 with 205k miles on it. still runs like a champ. think when the SOHC dies on it I am gonna do a DOHC swap and keep it runnin. thing gets too good of gas mileage not to. (plus it was free from my parents ;) it was my inheritance they said. )

Yeah its a Pioneer Premier DEH-P410H. Got it from here. (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_16567_Pioneer+Premier+DEH-P410UB.html)

I had an Audiobahn 900w RMS 10" sub in there for the longest time, but it finally blew lol. A wee bit too much airspace in the box I built I decided when I recalculated the volume.

looking at this sub (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_16663_Pioneer+Premier+TS-W2502D2.html) and it looks good. Price is right too. Sonic Electronix is a great place to buy car audio. This sub is listed @ $279 on Crutchfield.

EDIT: got me talkin about subs and I forgot to comment on the sound. The sound is awesome. I am running 4 Infinity Reference series 6 1/2" in the doors and in the back (not amplified, yet... will be though shortly ). This cd player sounds a lot better than my old Pioneer deck, which sounded great I thought. I would def. recommend this HU as its really nice. the controls are a little wonky, but once you get used to the joystick interface (still working on it, lol) it works ok. Has a ton of features, esp. for the price.

Blue LED mod for the Defrost button. looks a lot brighter in real life. the defrost symbol is blue too, didnt really come across well in the crappy cell phone pic. but I am too lazy to pull out my real camera lol

Rather than building a complicated drawer why not build a slot you can push the iPod into with the connector in place at the back, sort of like an old cassette deck but with an iPod. The build for that should be a bit simpler.

Good luck with the interior bulb swap too.

I thought about that, but I can't stand just how plain that plastic looks. with just a slot I dont think I would get the effect I was looking for. although I could illuminate it like the wii's disc tray...

good idea though.

eww, saturn. haha.

Always nice to have a new headunit. what are you running for speakers?

Infinity Reference Series (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-0bmrXTHTtHd/p_1086022I/Infinity-Reference-6022i.html) 6 1/2" full range in both the doors and the back deck. Just got the Pioneer Premier sub I linked to in the above post, have it in a hastily cobbled together temporary box that still sounds really good. Its a competition 800w RMS sub. :)

I also bought an amp for my interior speakers, just have been too lazy to install these. Trying to decide on whether or not to add a capacitor now that I have two amps. The 4 channel amp is only 200w rms though... but my car sounds awesome. Which is good, considering I drive roughly ~225 miles a week in it.

nice setup, i need to change out my subs with higher rated ones. my amp pushed 900 RMS but my subs only do 300RMS each. they are really nice though i would like to add a third but don't have any more space.

blue water sub test :)

i've wanted to change out all my lighting to blue (from red, Pontiac sunfire) but never got around to it. i did add my own controls from the gm after market cruise control i got from the second sunfire i bought to fix this one after my accident.

http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/oo304/Spawn-Inc/ccs.jpg

it was normally in the head light and wiper control arm, but the lettering was all worn out and it would have been a pain in the ass to change. so instead i took the switch apart and figured out how it was wired up (2 momentary switches and 1 on-off with 4 wires) so i wired it up to 2 toggle switches.

lol I love the cruise control switches. very race car like.

watching that vid makes me want to build my new box right away. lol need to get one tuned just right. right now my sub is pretty loud but the box its in is rubbish. like I said, I cobbled it together really fast. lol

Ha I remember my old sunfire, one memphis 15 in the trunk. Fold down the back seats it was like getting a back massage. Mounted some switches in the same location next to the dimmer, also had a covert one down by the hood release for my radar detector. Do not miss that hunk at all but it was a fun car.

lo, funny enough i also have a covert switch (with a key style lock switch) so i could shut off the stock button to open my truck and it would shut off my amp. idea being if they don't hear it or know about it, they wouldn't have a reason to look in the trunk. though i realize that they would likely check out the trunk anyhow.

either way with the key in the switch it stuck out to much and i ended up kicking it so many times getting in and out of the car it snapped off in the lock.

i also changed how the amp was hooked up so it doesn't work anyway.

as for the car i like it alot and of course would like a faster car, but i've already racked up 3 10 over tickets so i don't doubt it would be much higher with a faster car. get to start paying $8400 a year now :)
