Ok heres the thing so I bought my self and asus vento case (refrain from throwing rocks at me please), reason being my father is a mechanic and I like cars so the style apealed to me. so what follows is my intentions to correct some of the flaws in the case and what I'm going to shove into it

Mobo: DFI-Lanparty SLI-D
Ram: 4gig pc3200(kinston preferably)
PSU: Enermax 535w(already installed)-Side note if any one knows the stats on the fans in this psu I'd love you if you passed them on to me.
CPU: AMD X2 3800+
Optical: Liteon super burner(already installed)
Floppy: maybe 3.5 and classic 5.5
hd#1:Western Digital Raptor 36.7GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA
hd#2:Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10,000 RPM SATA w/ NCQ, 16MB
Audio:Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Fata1lty FPS Edition-Side Note( I know the mother board has on board 7.1 audio but my wife wants to hook this thing upto a bose surround sound system)
Video:eVGA e-GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB PCI-E w/ Dual DVI, VIVO(x2)

so now that the boring part is over on to pictures and ideas

first up cooling so I already yanked out the left side panel intake cone
http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/asusvento3600_suck.jpg

Then I replaced the stock fron intake fan
http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/frontandrearsplit.jpg
with two 80mm tornados
http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/tornado.jpg
and I intend on replaceing the rear one with a 120mm panaflow ultra high speed
http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/pana1.jpg
next comes paint, though I don't mind the blue of the vento case I love the blue of the BMW M3 (Leguna Seca Blue) though only a subtle diference I like the way it reflects light better. note picture below is a thumb link
http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/thumb_compare.jpg (http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/compare.jpg)
another reason to paint this case is to get rid of the marketing spew on the bottom intakes and the vento logo's on the "magic mask."
then comes the fun part changing the thwak mode of the magic mask to the cool sci-fi hssss of pnuematic shocks.

I also want to either put:
http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/logoweb.jpg
or the pop cap logo(look in signature) on the magic mask also want to put something inbehind the mesh where the intake cone used to be.
I'm also installing a asus star ice cpu cooler with aux fan(another 80mm tornado). I wouldn't mind seeing if I could swap the two fans in the psu(92mm&80mm) with tornados so I can maximise air flow.

I think will will also fill the bottom area(actualy under the case)with mono foam as wll as the plastic areas of the side pannels for thermal and sound reasons.my current athlon is runnign a valcano 6 that my roomie call hoover for obvious reasons.

I wanted to do more but it is 4:45 am and my lunch break is almost over so this will ahve to do for a first post, oh and btw I intend to have this done for Fraga,http://www.fragapalooza.com (http://www.fragapolooza.com)

Audio:Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Fata1lty FPS Edition-Side Note( I know the mother board has on board 7.1 audio but my wife wants to hook this thing upto a bose surround sound system)

Having a sound card seperate from the motherboard will always produce better quality sound, it will free up processor power and system memory, and most of the time you can get sweet environmental effects with a sound card that motherboard's don't come with. If you've ever listened to a Midi on built in sound and then listened to it on a SoundBlaster, then you'll know what i mean :) Nice card, i have the Audigy 2 ZS platinum in my machine, it's only a 5.1 card if i remember correctly but even though i have 7.1 built into the mobo the sound quality is far superior when coming through the card.

The vento is a nice looking case, although i've only seen photos of it. always thought the red one looked sweet. Can't wait to see the finished product.

I don't have all the materials or hardware just yet, so I'm mostly working on getting those, I have the case at least so I can fix the stupid thwack mode.
for more pictures I coing to have to borrow *cough* steal *cough* a family member or inlaws camera.

Well I took the case part and took some pictures(GF bought a new digital camera) I learnt a few things too. It could be more dificult than I first thought to change the sprinlaoded arms on the "Magic Mask" to pneumatic shocks, I have been thinking, to get something that size I might have to resort to shock from an RC truck. Have a look for your selves:
http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/MMback_thumb.jpg (http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/MMback.jpg)
That would be the mask(from the back) and the arms, also one thing I noticed is the arms and the mounting brackets(mounts to the case faceplate) are one piece, so I'm going to have to build a mounting system for the pnematic shocks.
Here is the back side of the front pannel:
http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/innsidefrontpannelop_thumb.jpg (http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/innsidefrontpannelop.jpg)
If you look benieth the upper mounting clips you can see the wholes where the arms used to mount.
Also while pokin arround under the fron cover I found a place to mount two more fans 60mm I think.
http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/morefansop_thumb.jpg (http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/morefansop.jpg)
I know what you guys are thinking that 535 power suply is for the fans, you are sorta right that and the two videocards.
Also here is a shot of the side pannal sans intake cone:
http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/sidepannelop_thumb.jpg (http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/sidepannelop.jpg)
And for those who just wanted to see wahts behind the plastic of the vento I give you an almost naked vento:
http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/casefrontop_thumb.jpg (http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/casefrontop.jpg)
oh alomost forgot if you look at the blue bottom piece you can see it is split up into pokets, it is removable and that is the bottom part I intend to fill with mono foam.
by the end of next month I'll have the cpu and video card one, and the link I posted to fraga last time was my mistake http://www.fragapalooza.com/

Before I forget I attempted to buy the PanaFlo ultra high speed fan couldn't get it anywhere in my city was going to order it throguh a friend who has his own computer busines but cost 48 bucks for one fan 12 for shippin, so I figure I'll wait and get it with my video cards.

Good luck!

You doing a vento as well, I could really use some one else thought on how to do the shocks I have been puzzling over it for a few days and I'm kinda running outta ideas besides maybe cutting the springs to lessen their streght and thus the speed the mask opens.

I have also decided agiant the two logos I'm going to to a Golgo 13 theme on the case.

Actually I'm looking into it as well. I'm leaning towards servos or a linear actuator of some sort. I want either a push button or remote solution. What they have now is a pain and too flimsy. I can see what they have breaking after a few months.

Hey latest update got my cpu today gf was nice enough to buy it for me :) , I also picked up two more fans; the panaflo 120mm, and another vantec 80mm tornado for the back the of the Asus Starice cpu cooler(*NOTE- MDCS they offer these in Red two and they are led lit)
here is a look at the inside of my case so far(* note the total lack of room and reason for so amny cooling fans)
http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/inside_thumb.jpg (http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/inside.jpg)
and I figured out how to get all the plastic bit off the case, (* NOTE- MDCS to remove the feet from the bottom plastic piece use the handle of a screw driver and a firm pres push the center point back into it's prong then use the corner of a flat tiped screwdriver for step 2, use the handle to finish the job and they com e out nice and easy, also to remove the latch for the from ccover usn the tip of a flat screw driver ther are two really some clips on either side of it and it falls right out)
http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/paintprep_thumb.jpg (http://www.geocities.com/gray_logan_p/vento/paintprep.jpg)
Also I found a local automotive paint shop that said the would do a the paint for me as I'm no hell with a paint gun, my fahter has all the tools I just have no talent in that way. I should have the first of me two video cards at the end of next week, speaking of that I ahve to do some more research as aprently it is near impossible to get evga 7800gt 512mb cards, hmm can any one say 7900 gt 512mb, LOL!

You know, you can order them both at NewEgg right now, and not pay for 6 months. Or a 3 month option with Bill-Me-Later. Then just make payments on them. I've used the 3 month option a few times.

Yeah actualy I made enough this week I can get both cards tomorrow, I have already prepaid for the first one(well a ctualy today for those that don't work nights)

I have also come accros and awesome idea for magic mask, but I want to see if I can contact Asus and order another magic mask and another of the top case plastic pice before I put the vent in it so I can't screw up

here is a photoshoped phot of the idea for the magic mask, I'm going to split the mask in two and reinforce it with fibre glass, then mount hinges at the top corners and have it open kinda like the shell of a ladybug

I sent an email about a week ago to them for the same thing. I wanted to know if I could get extra parts. Nothing yet, so I just bought another case. This way, if I decide to do something stupid:eek: and cut something or don't like the windows I have planned, I can have a backup piece to try something else.

is actualy simpler than it looks I just need to make sure I don't cut the clkosing clip in half or I'll have to mount a metal one on the mask, but I am so buying another mask before I attempt this hair brained scheme

So here is where things stand I have one E-vga 7900gtx paid for and a second with a deposit on it, but niether have shown up. I also have a friend checking into the possability of purchasing a new "magic mask" and top plastic cover before I start the true modding, also talkin to some engineers at the local University to see how to design and manufacture the hinges for the purpose I want.

I am soo Frustrated  I got both video cards installed and when I boot to windows. It comes to the password screen, and the screen is black(You know the kinda black screen that happens durrign standby), so like and idiot I phone evga  (I will state this once, call a trained monkey he will be more knowledgable about E-vga's products than E-vga's techs ever will!). I listen to the guy follow some instructions and now I am being forced to re-install my OS( some how installing the video drivers in the fashion he directed corrupted windows, DFI may make a great mobo(not IMO) but their documentation is more usefull for TP than any help, they have no contact information, they send you to a forum group for tech support(now normaly forums and tech support go hand in hand, but this is by the users at large not a bloody company), so here I sit almost to the point of giving away my system, I haven't slept more than 4 hours in the past two weeks :( , because of this computer. I need some serious help with the sli issue any one know a good tech? :?

I have 2 Intel and 2 AMD boards from them. They all work great. The AMD boards are both SLI which I use. Did you set those huge jumpers for DFI on your board? And Windows will put up a message window saying it's now SLI ready. Go to nVidia desktop manager and set it from there. Also, DFI Street is a great place for info, probably the place they sent you. Just wait a day or two and in most cases someone will help you.

On both of my SLI boards. I just set the jumpers, installed Win XP Pro with SP2, and they worked from the start. You did load the drivers from DFI and nVidia. Also, make sure you use the ORANGE memory slots, not the yellow. And start with one, after it's up and running, add the second stick. If you have 3 or 4 sticks, still start with one.

Hope some of this helps.

Good news everything is finally workin and I've gto some over time at the office so money is finaly coming , in but I have a dilemma, I am trying to decide between to cards ,you see those massive 7900gtx cards take two out put slots on teh abck of the computer and the bottom one covers my 1st standard pci slot leaving me with clear and aviable slot, a Fatal1ty XFI sound card or an Asus physx card.

I have on board 7.1 audio and a dual core cpu and those massive cards so I doubt I'm going to gain FPS from the sound card and the audio I'm getting from the DFI board is great, any one got any sugestions? I'll have pictures of the insides of my case tomorrow.

my opnion, ALWAYS use a third party sounds card, Onboard sound cards are ok, but not the best things in the world, turning them off free up memory, CPU cycles, and on some Mobo's an IRQ address line (Even though that will make no peformance difference)

Recomendation, use a third party sounds card.
