I'm in search of an Asus G50V notebook motherboard.

Ebay has been no help so far.. any other thoughts?

I've done a quick search for Asus online Support Store, and they sell peripherals and parts, but not the motherboard.

I might have found one (G50V) for almost free... but it drank a big glass of water. :P

You can sometimes get lucky with Amazon.

I've tried to power this one up, it's definitely NFG. No fans, lights, or any suggestion at all of any power reaching the CPU, and the power brick starts making a "clicking" sound as soon as it's attached to the laptop. Definitely needs a mobo replacement "at least". Water = bad.

I'm still in the search for a mobo, so if anyone here knows of any private sales, or other salvage companies/parts depots that might be of interest, please post them here!

An interesting development..

This morning an Acer Aspire 8920g fell into my lap. Hard drive is toast, and the rest is in unknown condition. Owner is unsure if whether or not he'll sell, but I'm hopeful.. it looks like it could be a pretty solid machine!

AND... the parts I have from the G50V (cpu, possibly GPU, 2x200gb 7200rpm hdds) might be useful in upgrading the Acer if I get it..

Did I mention it has a bluray drive, a 1080p panel, and built in 5.1 speakers? Hmm...
