When I cut the 24-pin power cord on my power supply to extend it, does it matter which wires are reconnected to which as long as they're the same color? The pinouts show all the blacks are ground, all the reds are +5VDC, all the yellows are +12VDC, all the oranges are +3.3VDC etc, so I wouldn't think it would matter, but I wanted to ask.

To clarify, if I cut it in half and splice in two feet of wire, can I connect any of the red wires from the PSU to any of the red wires going to the 24-pin connector that plugs into the motherboard or does one particular red wire have to be reconnected to the same red wire it was hooked to originally?

I, with little knowledge, believe that you should be fine. The only thing is that there might be different amperage on different lines. Otherwise, it's the same volts through the same color and I see no issue with that. My $0.02

This. you will lose some power due to resistance (ohm's law will tell you how much) so I guess it depends on how much power your PSU outputs and how much power you need. A psu wire should be the same gauge and material throughout so I doubt you will see much of an amperage change between different colored PSU wires but dont take that to the bank. :P

Nah you will be fine. If you look at the wires they are all soldered to the same rail . Just go color to color and you will be fine. Too bad you just cut it. I have something cool coming up next week for us.
