Okay guys here is what I am looking for:

I need an ati pci express 16x thats not a 2.0. Pain in the bum is that newegg, tiger, and zipzoomfly don't have any from a reliable or known chipset manufacturer that isnt a thousand dollar workstation card. I am on a fairly tight budget but would consider anything reasonable. Last time you guys came through with an agp for my briefcase mod so I am hoping you guys can come through again.

Any particular reason for a 1.x over 2.0?

The board doesn't do 2.0

Any particular card you are interested in?

*EDIT*
Allegedly, all 2.0 cards are backwards compatible to 1.0 slots, except for a few older mobos, with SIS chipsets.

Helpful?

Here's your answer.

In a nutshell, "Yes, you can use a 2.0 card, but only if the power requirements dont exceed the 1.0 standard, even though your mobo is 1.1a compliant."

All my PCIe 2.0 cards work in my PCIe 1.0 mobos. very few motherboards have PCIe 2.0 still, but pretty much 2.0 card is compatible with a motherboard that only has PCIe 1 support.

What level of card do you need? Something powerful or just to have a monitor or 2?

I am looking for an ati card is my only prerequisite, although i am extremely interested in one of those low profiles for a friend i will have to check with them. My only problem is I get a bog down in the onboard with some newer games. Lets face onboard graphics really arent meant to run games anymore. I don't have high speed right now so I do not run many games at all on here. I am just mainly looking to upgrade the card before I take the next step and get a bigger am2 processor and more ram.

Pick any low powered ATi card, you won't have a problem with the fact it's PCI-E 2.0. The cards can run at PCI-E 1.0

You're not dumb. I receive the IEEE journals so I know what's going on. That's some heady stuff.

my AX3850 (2.0) works fine on a ECS board (1.0) so im sure as hell a asus board could do it..
