I'm wondering if it's not that good of an idea, to have a an not-so concise work log, shown on this website?

I'm wondering as it's an hassle, too bring in my family's only camera...which is a shoddy pink 40 dollar 8mp camera, that has picture quality of an cellphone.......into my HS wood working class...which is a class, that think my computer will burn down my house.....

----------------------------------------------------

My work log will contain the "more important details" of whats getting complete...rather every minor detail that's done, shown in my work log.

Why so?

Every piece of board in my shop, is purchased in raw lumber mill cuttings, which the students are required to process from raw cutting..to a final board.

So if i were to include ALL the steps, there will be hundreds of pictures....at the end of my project.

-------------------
So I'm wondering if its a good idea, to just show things that I finish for my case, and how my case is transforming?

These "things" include the finished case frame, finished body panels, home made wooden HDD,and 5in bays......
-------------------------------------

Also my family, recently purchased a new camera.

As a rule of thumb, it's generally a good idea to show all the steps to something once, but then show the results of doing it many times. Like if I were to sleeve a hundred cables, I might want to show the complete process on one of the cables, but then show the results as I go of 20 complete cables, then 20 more, etc.

However, any worklog is better than zero. Having a somewhat incomplete worklog generates more interest than just showing results. The more thought out and complete a worklog is the better more interested people will be, even if the project itself isn't that interesting.

If a worklog makes a project 10x more interesting, then your project will be as interesting as one that is 10x better with no worklog.

I think it would be cool to see wood go from raw lumber to finished product. :D

ditto.

And like d_stiglar said; something is better than nothing. :D IMO, worklogs are usually more about the process than the end result anyways.

I would be if I had worklogs for all my unfinished projects.

I'm repenting though! I finally finished the NES and my wife said I was not allowed to start new projects until I finished all my old ones. You all should be grateful for my better half.

Of course you should post a worklog. What you include it up to your discretion, would you rather keep it minimal and keep us in suspense or do you want to include all the details of your build from start to finish. It's up to you. Even if the project isn't finish post it up, thats why it's called a work log. You log the progress of your project as you are working on it.

What I don't get is how a 8mp camera is shoddy. The best cell phone camera I've seen is 5mp which is actually quite decent. I used to use a 3.2mp camera for years and it took plenty good pictures. Who cares if the camera is pink, it's a camera you are using to take pictures and if anyone at your school tries to say something bad about it tell them is your mom's or your sister's. If for some reason you still think its crap (which I doubt) ask a friend or even a teacher if they have a camera you could borrow.

Key thing here is don't compare yourself to everyone else on this site. There are a few superstar modders, and there are people who came here that had never picked up a power tool. I'm sure you are somewhere in between, which is a great place to be. Don't be intimidated just post what you do.
