View Full Version : What ever happened to Apple being the nice guys?

So, as much as I hate music labels, I find myself actually siding with them on this.

Amazon apparently recently started working out deals with music labels, where they get access to certain songs the day before street date, and they would have special deals on that day. Well, when Apple found out about this, instead of trying to compete with them, they decided to tell the labels that if they kept letting Amazon do that, then they would take their ball and go home. Unfortunately, several labels have already pulled back online release not only the day before street date, but the day of as well.

To be fair, I'm pretty removed from the problem since most of the music I like is over a hundred years old or made in Norway... But it still irks me to see Apple being such a dick. Sure, innovation and competition is fine...as long as it's for our gain. :banghead:

This is pretty much the way Apple has always been.

Steve Jobs looks pissed off all the time, as well. That can't be good for his blood pressure... that and those turtle necks might be too tight. :\

Even though this will not affect me in any way since I buy my music in CD (or even DVD) format, I still think the music labels should have told apple to go pound sand (or apples). Yes, iTunes is making them money, but it is also a large revenue stream for apple and threatening to just stop that revenue was a weak threat at best.

I like Amazon MP3 better; they have mp3s and charge less than iTunes for every song/album that I've seen so far, although I still like to have the physical CD, unless there is a large price difference.

Oh yeah, just remembered something. Cables for iPods won't work with iPhones and vice versa. I still can't figure out any good reason for that except for raised profits (those cables are like $20 apiece and only about 2-3' long).

Apple pisses me off. They want to be in control of everything.

Now they are suing HTC.

I saw some of the patents they're suing them over. One of them was for 'a method of unlocking a touchscreen device by performing a pre-determined action'. Seriously? How on earth did they even get that patent in the first place??

I despise Apple so much that I refuse to even eat one. I'm thinking of swearing off of fruit altogether, simply by association.

News flash, Apple was never nice. They were just as ruthless as M$ and maybe more so in the last few years. I mean seriously adding an auth chip to headphones so you can overcharge on your crappy headphones. I have an iTouch but only because it was a gift and I needed an mp3 player at the time. Once it dies I will support some one else. I refuse to buy an app or a song from itunes on reasons of general principal.

I agree with Oneslowz28 when was apple ever nice? They are like any other company. $40 headphones no thanks. But I must admit they turned my warranty claim around for my iPhone instore in under 1 hour by giving me a new one.

The Church of Jobs is not without its grubby little money ministers.

I use the same cable for my iphone and the wife's ipod, they're all the exact same except for the shuffle, it connects through the headphone jack
