Hey all. Looks like im gonna be takin a couple days off work.

I was at work unloading a truck when i went to pull a pallet full of Mulch off the truck and ran my foot over with the pallet jack. The trailers are at an incline and the pallet just got going so fast i couldn't slow it down. I mostly crushed my pinky toe but the doctors said nothing looks broken in the xrays. I had to get three stiches and then they sent me on my way. My manager said the pallet was probably 3000+ pounds. I guess im just happy i didn't crush all the bones in my foot lol.

Was kinda embarassed that everyone got to see my striped Knee high socks and purple (painted) toe nails on top of it all. lol.

It's so sore now and I can barely walk around. I'll upload pics if i can get my blackberry to connect to ubuntu. I've never really hurt myself befores so this is a new experience to me lol.

IDK what to do to keep from getting bored now.

anyone got any similar stories they wanna share?

Ouch! Hope it gets better soon, sounds painful.

I used to be a mechanic, working on tractor trailers. One night I was rolling a tire to the back of a trailer. These tires mount on 24.5-inch rims so you imagine the size and the intertia involved once you get them rolling. When they're new and the suspension on the trailer is lowered the top of the tire clears the bottom of the trailer by about 1/4". I was rolling it beside the trailer hand over hand when it hit an air line on the floor and tipped toward the trailer. By instinct I grabbed the top of the tire to keep it from falling all the way over, just as it rolled under the trailer. My fingers were caught between the tire and the trailer and ripped the fingernails off of the middle and ring fingers of my right hand. I actually had to have stitches in the nail bed on the ring finger, you can see the scar through the nail now. After they scrubbed the whole thing with a stiff-bristled brush. I honestly just about passed out.

;_; I would have passed out. I just about hyperventilated from the stitches. I'm terrified of doctors and needles and any sort of medical treatment.

Nothing quite that painful but I took a job doing the electroplating for circuit boards (actually had some that said 'Creative' and such) anyway after a few hours my 3rd or 4th day we had been running boards constantly that night and someone asked me if I had ever burned myself real bad at McDs. When I asked why they pointed out that I had chemical burns on both forearms covering the bottom and going from front to back about 6 inches. Of course we covered my arms in neutrelizer and covered them. We worked with Hydrocloric, Sulphic, and I think one was Floric acid. Bad stuff and I never felt a thing.

Ok, so heres my story:

When I was eleven years old I was rough housing with my mom at the bottom of the stairs in our apartment. Well she was tickling me and I put my arm out to the side. She decided to put her foot on my arm to keep it down so I couldn't stop her from continuing. Well, as she was going to put her foot down she lost her balance and stepped on my thumb. I busted out crying, and my mom stopped tickling me. I told my mom that my thumb hurt extremly bad and my response was "Put some Ice on it you baby...". The next day I woke up and my thumb was swollen by like two. Thats when my mom decided it was time to take me to the doctor, so we rushed to urgent care. They then proceeded to ask me all the questions and I answered with what happened. They gave my mom a very very weird look after the story. So, they took xray's and saw that my thumb had in fact been broken. Well the next day my Doctor calls up my mom and tells us to rush in and that we need to see him. He then tells us that it was broken in a growth plate, and I would need surgery. In a matter of 3 days I had my thumb broken and my surgery. Any ways that was a long drawn out story, but my thumb still hurts when its cold out.

A long time ago, in a grocery store far, far away, I was about 5-6 years old and riding on the bottom of the fully loaded grocery cart pushed by my mom. I don't know whether it was by childish stupidity or unfortunate accident, but my index finger found it's way into the wheel and it's metal enclosure. It crunched it up pretty quickly and slowed the cart...which caused my confused mother to give a really hard push to try and get it going again. That push removed lots of skin from my finger and the finger nail itself. I remember not feeling anything until after I examined the damage...if only adrenaline lasted longer...
I had pretty much forgotten about it until now. I haven't really been hurt since then. It's good to be careful all the time.

Proper footwear...? Yes they got ripped apart.

Honestly I'm a sales associate, unloading trucks isn't really my job. But i guess i should mention that I work in the garden centre around heavy merchandise and equipment all day and I do regularly unload trucks even though my direct supervisors dislike it. (Not their choice most of the time.) I just really don't like boots. Maybe ill invest in a pair though...

As for nailpolish and socks... something i picked up from my ex. Can't really explain it. Got lots of comments though including one "His nails are painted better than mine."

Lots of great stories guys. It's amazing the ways we never expect to get hurt but do.

Worst thing for me that I can remember is putting a sewing needle through my finger...

This past weekend I managed to smash both elbows when a ratchet slipped off a bolt, burned my hand in hot motor oil when a drain plug fell into a catch pan, and then got a prybar in the face when my footing slipped.

Good times.

All in one session? Sounds like the oil change from hell.

All in one session? Sounds like the oil change from hell.

TWO oil changes, a fuel filter install, a headlight replacement, an exhaust system inspection, and an intake cleanup/airfilter swap.

On the way back with the second vehicle (just an oil change), I managed to get a flat tire.

I was imagining an auto garage run by The Three Stooges...everything was even in black and white.

This sounds like my normal average luck every time I went to work on my last car (2000 pontiac sunfire)
