It was rusted out and the wood panels had some severe water damage to the top most ply of wood. was also covered in what seemed to be elmers glue and glitter lol.. and pencil markings all over the place.

Lol bought it for 5$, spent 20 on paint and poly.

pretty cool! well at least she thinks so, she keeps saying "it pretty, it pretty"

Drool proof of course!

Twigs; I love hose old desks. My grandmother had a couple of them at her house for us kids when we were young. I think the look on our face was similar to your daughter's...

Still needs a couple coats of wipe on poly, and i'm still up in the air about taping it off and getting some spray-on poly for the final finish.

Hand painting every one of those rivets, I though i'd be able to just wirebrush and wetsand them shiny again.. but the rust is to bad to make it look decent at all.

I've found out people won't buy brightly colored antiques and retro furniture as fast as they will if you use some earth toned paint.

Still torn between using that Green, or going for a light beige or dark brown color for the rivets.

I really do like taking a piece of furniture that was going to see the dumpester inside a few weeks. taking it apart cleaning it back up and giving it a new life with someone else. (for a bad a!@ profit)

Oh that desk Sold for 85$

You made your daughter pay $85 for it? ^_o

Just kidding, :P great job on both. If it were me, I would look into replacing the tacks with brass...but that would definitely end up costing you more than the chair did.

Yea I've decided that green isn't the way to go.

There just push tacks put in there, at walmart it was 1.99$ for 20 of them in a similar style.

But i'd need something like 200-300 would be my guess to re do the whole chair.

Did manage to pick up some saddle soap and i've started treating the leather with it. Man that stuff is like a miracle in a can lol.

But on the other hand, this is going in a store on the 16th Street art plaza here in oklahoma city, so 1 off and sorta retro is cool there.

That desk sold the same day i put it in there lol. and i put 85$ on there thinking someone would swoop by in a month and ask 60-65$, but nope it's like i put it down filled out my card, walked outside and someone went ZOMFJG.

Which is cool, considering that little old desk was d00med for the landfill by what that guy was saying if it didn't sell.

but anyways i'll take some pictures of the chair tomorrow and show the difference. (still wonder about the tacks lol)
