I have asked on other forums and I have also goggled. And so far I have had no luck. My problem is I have a IBM Thinkpad I Series and its very dead. But as far as I know the LCD is fine. Is there any way to hook this up to a VGA port?

Yes you can, you can use a laptop CD-ROM and HDD provided you have a converter, likewise for the monitor, the image you got, the lead on the right is the power, the connection for the image is a 15 wire ribbon, if you can work out which wire relates to what wire/Output on a VGA card you can solder it onto a GFX card.

Its very hard to do and not recomended as it can damage both the TFT and your GFX card.

as far as I know there is no practicle way to use a Laptop LCD with a desktop.

http://www.eio.com/lcdconnect.htm

However you can buy adapters for laptop HDD's and CD-rom drives as XcOM said.

The only way to use a Laptop LCD with a desktop pc is by a converter (the laptops have them built in) the best place for them is hereEarthLCD (http://store.earthlcd.com/) Crimson Sky has used some of thier stuff in his mods before. The downside is the converters are not cheap...Most of the time it's cheaper to go buy a new Flat panel and gut it then buy a converter. Check it out and see.

You can get adapters for the Floppy and CDRom from lots places like mini-box.com (http://www.mini-box.com)
They are reasonably priced too.

Good Luck,
