I ordered some capacitors off ebay. I needed a few sets as I didn't want to have to order again if I needed these same ones down the line. Shipping charges were pretty ridiculous to begin with -> 9$ for 6 caps, when it was only $2.50 for 2.

I get the pickup slip from the post office and it says I have to come in and pay $34 to get them. WTH? I already spent ~16 just on the darn caps and shipping, and now another 34$ to get them.

Item in question (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150399432975&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT)

I've never paid shipping on something, and then had to pay postage at the post office. So confused as to what could be going on. I just want the damn caps so I can get this screen up and going. Sent a message to the seller, will head into the post office tomorrow. Arghh...

If the seller doesn't explain, tell the post office to return to sender and leave negative feedback.

Sounds to me like the seller screwed you, and just took the S&H money for themselves.

I can live with not condensing shipping. Newegg used to, and may still do it, so I am used to it and just wanted the caps so I paid it. But to get a slip that says I have to pay another $34 to pick it up at the post office?

Have any of you ever had to pay to pick up and item that was shipped to you?

The box "letter" is checked off. It has 6 small capacitors in it. How could that warrant 34$ extra postage?

Edit: This mail person's writing is messy. I'm looking at the 3 really closely and I can't tell if they curl the bottom corner of the 3 or if they just swooped a decimal into the base of the 3. Either way there is no 0 in front of it. I'm just going to hope they meant to mark a decimal. *crosses fingers*. I can deal with $0.34.

Man that does suck and if its $34 for 6 caps tell them to keep it and send me a PM on what size you need. I just might have them.

That sucks; hopefully it is $0.34 after all.

For future notice, they do consolidate shipping now. I forget when they started doing that; I think it was some time around '06-'07?

It's probably .34. If the seller doesn't refund any of it, leave negetive feedback. If the postage due amount is too much, refuse the package (it will be returned to the seller and they will have to pay) and file a paypal/ebay dispute. I usually order my caps from digikey; they only charge what it actually costs to ship, and for small orders, shipped first class, it's usually less than $2.

I'll second the digikey recommendation - I ordered the LEDs and resistors for my case mod from them. shipping charges as well as item charges were very reasonable, and I'll definitely go back to them when I need little gadgets in the future.

I had actually looked through digikey's webpage, but I am by far not an expert on this, and am in fact quite noobish when it comes to electronic components so after a couple minutes trying to find what I was looking for to no avail, I just moved on.

I had tried searching through the search bar and was having issues finding what I was looking for. I just went through again and it seems had I just gone through the index instead of through the search bar, I would have had an easier time.

i've had to pay about $30 when i had 2 big orders ($250+) for some water cooling gear. was told it was a brokerage fee, but i guess in your case there shouldn't be as it's within the states.

if it's 34 and not .34 then i would return to sender.

I have had to pay extra postage when getting a package before. usually it gets shipped but was improperly weighed or something. not sure exactly why.

Yup, it was under-weighed. It was $0.34. They really should write a bit neater, but I guess after doing it all day my writing would be sloppy as well.

The seller is refunding me the $0.34 + 20% of the purchase. Ehh, I just took it. No point in fighting over something I agreed to pay in the first place, but even through all of this, he/she still made out with ~$7 in shipping + the profit of the item.

Should have probably went with a different seller, but it was one of the only ones I had found with somewhat high feedback, and was in the US. I didn't want to deal with a wait for caps from China/Taiwan/etc.

Link to the $0.34 receipt if any one wanted to look. (http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/1257/img2264h.jpg) Not sure why I posted it, but I needed to snapshot it in case the seller wanted it and had the URL already in clipboard. =)

Did you look at digikey for caps? Keep them in mind for the future.

I did. Next time I will use them. The selection is huge once you know what to look for. I'll just use the index instead of the search bar, as I was lost when I tried search bar, but found everything just going through product index.

Shipping is pretty reasonable through digikey? Caps were cheaper. The ones I wanted were ~0.65 I think, instead of 1$+.
