very cool, but the reactions to braking and accelerating are grossly over exaggerated. and to bad his is using the tv speakers.

Not that intense, but still pretty good is the D-Box gaming chair (http://www.livetheaction.com/dealerarea/dealer/Be_the_game_order_D-box.html). You can order online too!

I disagree.. I think that the only way to get the true feeling of acceleration and braking that you would experience in a racing sim like that (Formula 1) would be to almost dump you straight up and down. Certainly those cars can accel and brake at more than 1G. :D

Now let's see that paired with a flight sim. :D

ya i guess with a real car you have the pushed in your seat feeling and that would help to recreate it more.

A little research turns up that it is a force dynamics 401 unit or something close to it.

I think it needs a cup holder.

I think it needs a cup holder.

+1
That would make it an epic chair

I think it needs a cup holder.

With a gyroscopic mount, of course, that would compensate for the movement of the chair and keep it absolutely level. :D

A truly hardcore racer wouldnt have a cup holder.. it would have a camelbak type system.. a bladder + a drink tube mounted close enough that you can sip hands free. :D

with some scalding hot coffee :) you can play 2 games at once.

Racing and how fast can you burn and empty your cup at the same time :)

what i would do if i had that machine, as i would have the money, is put the whole thing in a stand that can flip upside down so you can feel a crash better :) or enjoy flight sims.

I think that for the cost of the PC, software, and the chair, you could buy/build a proper race car, and get into some amateur racing. :D

yeah but the computer version doesn't have the specter of death by crashing hovering over it. That said, I'd totally rather have the real car. with the cup holder. :D

One thing to keep in mind is one of my favorite jokes.
How do you make a small fortune racing?

Start with a large one. ;)

i wonder what happens if you plow your virtual car into a wall at say 100mph... does the tv start on fire?
