So my ex wife got hit with identity theft. She had a 250 dollar charge to newegg on her account. So, of course, she blamed me for it, called me up and chewed me out etc. I told her, I haven't ordered from Newegg in months... if not over a year! besides, I never use her account info or card anyways. So she called up Newegg and sure enough, the order was going to a different state and had already been shipped (nice one newegg, way to double check billing addresses!)
so now she has to go through our bank (us bank, who hopefully can do something about this - it was charged to her debit card :S) I hope they catch the bastard.
So now I get the fun task of going through and changing all of my passwords just in case they somehow got her info on one of my old accounts somewhere. Doubt it, but it still gives me the creeps.

I use Amazon pretty strictly anymore. Quite satisfied with my experiences with them. That and I like the used option which is like Ebay but with multiple safety nets and you're dealing with people who either are or act more like a company rather than an individual user. Amazon always has the best prices too, or at least most of the time. That and Amazon Prime is awesome! So long as you shop online frequently enough for it to be worth it the yearly payment. I think it's like $70 a year and you get discounted over-night shipping and free two day shipping. IMO, Prime makes it worth shopping online whenever you can, especially since Amazon has pretty much everything.
Anyways, hope you get this thing worked out! I hate thiefs! So tired of always worrying about MY **** getting stolen. F'n ridiculous. I swear I'm just going to electrify my car when I'm away and put bear mace above the windows. lol

I've had my credit card # stolen twice, which was annoying but Chase was really good about it, never had to pay a dime on the fraudulent stuff. The really annoying time was when my bank THOUGHT there were fraudulent charges on my debit card (it was me, but I was traveling) and I didn't have my cell # on file with them, so when they couldn't get hold of me they cancelled the card....luckily it was cancelled a couple hours AFTER I bought gas on my drive back home, so I didn't end up stuck.
I'd highly recommend to both of you, if you want to keep credit card #'s on file with online vendors, make sure it's credit and not debit cards. Credit card companies are easier to deal with if there's fraud, and that way the money doesn't disappear out of your checking account. hope they catch the guy, and at least that they refund the charges!

Could you call UPS to have it returned? I think they say to do soon when it is at the nearby processing center (the one closest to the delivery address).

+1 for Chase here as well. A lot better and easier than I thought I was going to be.

You can not blame newegg for the theft LS. The account # could have been stolen from anywhere. If her computer is virus ridden and she entered her # to pay a bill or buy something a key logger could have logged the key strokes and an sniffer realized that it was a CC# and forwarded the number to the hacker or criminal who is paying for the info.

Be happy it was only $250.
Does Newegg have the address for the thief? How convenient for the cops.

I don't blame them for the theft, but i tried once to have something i bought shipped to where i work instead . They said that the could not do that because the address where i work was different on my card and account than that where i work .
I still steamed about my processor laying in the bottom of the box though lol

they couldn't tell us any information, they said the bank had to take care of it. All they could say was that the order was shipped and that it was to a different state.
hope this works out. Oh well.
Thieves piss me right the **** off.
