I still say a lower-capacity one to run the OS and programs is well worth it. the speed increase is crazy huge, and I just kept my older 500GB drive as a storage drive and made it external. Example - Far Cry 2 used to take a few minutes to load the game, then load a level. Now, it takes all of 25 seconds between when I launch the game itself and I'm in a level playing. :D Like I said, crazy fast.

For what reason? With no moving parts, they are much less likely to fail than a HDD. Get one for a boot drive and keep everything else on a HDD. Until capacities grow and prices fall, that's all they're really good for at the moment anyway.

Until their prices fall a little more, I'm not getting my RAID 0 pair yet either. Prices are falling rapidly though!

From what I hear there are several setting changes and memory flashes you must do to make them truly usable.

It depends on the drive and your OS, but tbh, with Windows 7 all the OS stuff is taken care of by default. Firefox tends to have issues running off an SSD (at least for me), but really, it's so much faster running off a RAM disk that I now recommend people to move it onto one even if they don't have an SSD. :D

Heheh, I hear this. The only reason I was able to put up with Fallout 3 crashing so much was because it only took ~5-10 seconds to go from game launch to in-game. :D
