I have a Pentum 200 i don't want the chip but i need the heatsink and fan thats atached to the chip. It seems to be glued to the chip somehow and i cant seem to pull it off.

its prolly thermal adhesive, good luck trying to get it off. first make sure there arent any screws hold it on, then freeze it, then pry it off with a screwdriver, thats how i removed my voodoo3 heatsink i believe. send pics

Oh there will be pics. this is just a small part to a big mod. Thanks for your help
the other option is if you can fire it up, turn your system on, hammer the CPU (Strangly, just sit it in the bios for a hour) then kill the power and remove it very fast, that should losen the termal compound, the other thing you can try is to use de-greaser.

as strange as this sounds give it a go. zippo fluid. yes thats right lighter fluid. it works like a degreaser. it is very handy for removeing anything sticky from just about any surface. best part is if your getting too annoyed with it you can just set the sob on fire.

I got one thing to say to that:
Dum...dumdeedumdum!
That f*ing logo haunts me. Every idiot i know associates a good computer with that stupid noise. The pentium 2 burning sounds like it might be sweet.

the only good pentium ever was the pentium pro (That was only becuase there sooo good in servers)

Any type of solvent ought to do it, ie.: acetone, laquer thinner, rubbing alchohol, nail polish remover, methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), etc. Just remember to BE CAREFUL when using these items, wear eye protection and a respirator. Also, if the motherboard isn't important I suggested heating it gently over a flame for a few minutes, that will warm up the thermal compound and make it just fall right off.
