Hey guys,
I'm looking for a new cooler for my Phenom II X4,but I'm finding it hard to get a silent one, within my height restrictions(140 mm).Any suggestions?
(My cpu is at the right temperatures, but the stock cooling fan is a bit too loud.)
Thanks in advance.

its 128mm tall, so it should work perfectly for you

Thanks,it looks like it might work. But I would have to sacrifice my RAM cooler to put it in i think.( http://www.pixmania.si/si/uk/3381009/art/kingston/khx-fan-fan-for-hyperx-ra.html )

I dont think you would need your ram cooler with the TT BigTyp 14 PRO. It moves a good bit of air.

you might be able to squeeze it. I'm running my OCZ memory cooler with it, I had to adjust the mounts so it wouldnt hit but it works.
this is the one I have (I painted mine black though):

yes, that it does. I used mine just because I wanted space for extra RGB LEDs, I had an extra port open on my fan controller, and the CPU cooler doesnt cover the two outermost sticks of ram. You'll probably be fine without it though
or you could mount it so the heatpipes are facing up and down isntead of front ot back, that would make room for it that way. I mounted mine like so because I wanted the TT logo to read properly (slight bit of OCD lol)

Erm, lol - you know, you COULD just have rotated the fan by 90 degrees, what with it being a square :p

hahahahaha!!! I love it when I have those "duh" moments...too many to count.
I posted this on the copy of the thread in the PC cooling section, but I thought I'd add it here too:
one easy and cheap thing you could do, although it'd increase your temps slightly, is get a Zalman fan speed controller (they often come with their coolers, but I've bought them separately too). Run the CPU fan through that, and you can dial its speed way down for quietness, and turn it up higher when you need better performance, like when gaming, and there's enough other noise that the fan won't be noticeable. it's what I've got on my setup, works really well. I don't know what my low speed/high speed temp difference is though.

I'm running a Phenom II X4 940 using a Zalman 9500 cooler. Don't know if it's too tall offhand, but it works. Runs a bit warm on the lowest speed though, way warmer than the older dual core I originally bought it for.

Cool,Thanks for the replies guys! Think I'll order the TT BigTyp 14 PRO.If the RAM fan has to go i can do without it. Once again, thanks!

The BigTyp14 Pro does have its own fan controller included. I guess I need to review mine and put it up on the front page.

Unless you're overclocking your RAM, I wouldn't worry about it. RAM running at stock speeds tends to not get very hot.

Nah, i won't need to over clock my RAM. Don't even use it all! :P Thanks for the advice.
