View Full Version : Power Strip Mod?

Well, my idea for the mod was quite simple and I'm not sure if this is the best way to go about doing this or if it is even a good idea. My goal is to make a custom "lightboard" for local music shows. What I thought would be easiest is to have a powerstrip and then modify it so that each outlet is controlled by a momentary switch (always open). This way, we could do custom light shows and so forth with very little cost, as this is all for local bands with little money. Does anyone have any tips/advice/warnings/tutorials/help/comments/suggestions regarding this?

Thanks in advance for reading this and hopefully reponding.

make sure that the power strip you mod doesn't have a built in surge protector or change the voltage at all. I don't think that power strips have any capacitors but might want to make sure just in case. Also be sure to cover any open wires when your done.
