My ankle / heel has been hurting since I last played football with some friends which was about 2 weeks ago. The pain has been very light and only became an issue if I was on my feet for a few hours so I thought I might have strained or bruised something. Well today while walking in Walmart someone yelled "Charles" and I pivoted on that foot to see who was calling me. About half way through the pivot a sharp pain shot through my foot and started throbbing like half way between my ankle and Achilles tendon. Every step I would take felt like someone was driving a nail into my heel. So I make my shopping trip quick and come home. It was hurting to use the brakes in my truck. I get inside (barely) and pull off my shoe and there is no swelling or discoloration. It continues to throb for a few hours and eases up a bit. Now literally every time I flex my foot up or down it throbs and I get that same shooting pain.
I called the ER at 2 local hospitals and they both said that all they would do would be to take x-rays and give me something for the pain and send me home with a padded brace. So its no use going there and spending a few thousand dollars for just a brace and a pain pill. I plan on calling a foot Dr. Monday but I doubt I will be able to see anyone before late in the week.
Anyone else experienced pain in the same area? Have any idea what the hell I did?

I have had the same thing happen, I never got it checked out though. I just popped a bunch of ibuprofen and lived with it. lol hurts like a bitch though. (whoah, since when can we say that?)

We always could. Bitch, historically, refers to a female dog.
Anyways, like I said on your FB post, Paging Dr. Benson!
I had a similar problem going on with my left foot. However, since I haven't been standing on concrete floors for 8 hours a day like in my old job, I've noticed that the pain has decreased significantly.

Pain is back. Walked out to the driveway to pick up the news paper and when I walked up the 2 short steps into my house from my garage the pain shot straight up my leg. It actually is worse this time. I had to hop to the kitchen on my right foot.
Just called a foot Dr and I have an appointment for this afternoon at 3.
I can not put any pressure what so ever on it at this time. Even flexing it hurts like hell. I lost my balance on the way to the living room and had to put weight on it to stop from falling and it brought me to tears. So I made it back to the garage and managed to dig out the crutches from when I sprang the same ankle last year.
This foot has a history of pain. I severely sprang it a few times in HS playing football and would roll it every few weeks for a few years. It finally became somewhat immune to the pain of rolling it. By somewhat immune I mean that the pain would go away after a minute or so. Then last year I sprang it in a small hole while walking through a park I was taking photos in. Since then I have rolled it a few more times playing football or just walking on flat ground. So I think this pinched nerve or what ever it is, is telling me to take a step back and take it easy for a while.
The crappy thing is that I have to run my uncles construction company for the next 6-10 weeks while he recovers from major surgery. I start Monday and have all the intentions of going out there and actually working side by side with his crew.

Sorry to hear about your wife man. That sucks! I am pretty good with pain. I mean yea it still hurts but 99% of the time I can manage it. Its that 1% that puts me out of commission.

Went to the Dr. He scheduled me for some test tomorrow including a few xrays of my foot. Gave me some good pain killers which knocked me out for a few hours.

I screwed it up pretty bad this morning. I had to stop for fuel and me being the stubborn idiot I am insisted that I pump. When walking to the back of the truck I rolled the ankel on the hurting foot. The pop and crackel was so loud my mother heard it inside my truck. I now can not put ant pressure or bend my foot. So I am sitting at my appointment at the up waiting on xrays. The doc moved it around and said he thinks it's something more than a sprang.

Well the x-rays showed no break but the Dr did move it around more and poked here and there and after consulting with another Dr. they concluded that I tore some ligaments. So I have a splint on it and have to walk with crutches. He said for me to keep off of it all together until Monday morning.
Like I said, I am pretty good with pain and when I told the Dr. I only wanted Tylenol or Motrin for the pain he said "If I ever piss you off in a dark alley I am just going to have to shoot you and not worry about beating you up" He said that I am the second person he has ever treated for an injury like this who refused the narco pain killers. I just dont like the way they make me feel.

OK walking for the first time after having foot elevated and iced for the last 8 hours is not a pleasant experience even with crutches.

My step-mother recently had a hip replacement, was offered a month of high dose morphine, oxycodone, dihydrocodine or tramadol, her choice.
She decided she didn't like them and just took paracetamol . After having half of her femur and a chunk of her pelvis replaced with titanium bars, plates and pins :hurt:.
I have subsequently accused my father of marrying Rambo.
