Alright, I picked up a C2Q 6600 from Trace (THANKS!) to replace my Pentium D 930. Got it all in and running. Now I notice my All CPU Meter gadget still only shows 2 cores. I opened Cinebench, it listed it as a C2Q 600, and showed 2 cores/2 threads. I then opened msconfig, went to advanced boot options, then to number of processors, and again it only listed 2. Anyone have any ideas? Windows did recognize it and updated the experience index score as well

Weird, does your bios recognize all the cores? You might need to update the bios if your processor came out after the bios version you are running. You posted this in the wrong forum btw. Should probably be in The Workbench section.

it recognizes it as a C2Q 6600. I've got the latest BIOS revision which supports the C2Q 6600 and 6700 (both 1066 FSB and 65nm)

ok figured it out. Device manager showed 2 cores, but task manager did not. this fixes it (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7hardware/thread/71519d51-f6cb-47df-b3ff-66c2928d6de4) though
