ok here's the question. the 1.5tb drive I picked up is only a 5600rpm one. I am noticing a bit of a slowdown. if I were to pick up a 7200rpm 1.5tb and hook it up, can I copy the drive exactly to the other, that way I wont have to reinstall windows and everything?

Clonzilla (http://clonezilla.org/) will do exactly what you need and it is free. Simple question and answer interface. I would suggest trying it on a test disk first and play with the options. If I see the menu in front of me I always remember what options to choose, but not off the top of my head.

One of the good things about clonezilla is that it can work with disks/partitions of different sizes and so long as there is enough space for the actual data, it doesn't matter.

ok now the question is: my board only suppots 3GB/s SATA, but will I notice a huge difference between a 32MB cache and a 64mb cache? the price difference doesnt seem to be too much, so if its a huge difference it may be worth a few extra $

More cache is a good thing providing you don't have lots of power outages randomly.

u will notice the difference if your goin to be doing alot of HDD intensive things..
loading huge maps in games, large photo editing (mostly a ram thing tho)
