Try googling for something and you can see the layout change. Feels to me like a direct cut from Bing.

I've pretty much stuck to google, and while I have heard good things from people about bing, I never really used it as I didn't care for the layout. Now google has switched to a very very similar layout.

Looks like I've got to get with the times, less there is an option for the classic layout.

Thoughts on the change?

Did you try googling something, or just going to the google main webpage? As the main page itself looks the same.

Hmm. . . maybe it's localized or something. As I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 and it is definitely a clone of Bing's search results page instead of the older left hand alignment setup.

I tried with chrome and ff and it's still the same. Weird.

are you talking about this NightrainSrt4?

http://www.tothepc.com/archives/disable-options-left-sidebar-on-new-google-search/

it is PISSING me off to no end.... what a useless dumb feature.....

apparently it's just testing and it happens to you based on your cookies. so i went to select google's cookies only and what did i do? pressed the 'delete all cookies' button! friggin pissed.

/rant.

if there was a better search engine i would gladly leave google over this one "feature"...

I think so, yes.

Link showing the new sidebar thing. It's not that bad once I got used to it, but surprised the hell out of me, and felt really awkward.

it's a pain in the ass still for me. i don't understand the need for it when all those options are simple above (web, maps, images, etc)

Yeah, they test new things constantly to see how people react. usually they are small, and clearing your cookies will reset it

Clear all internet history/cache/cookies. I haven't gotten the new layout, but previously when I had recieved something radically different (at school, most of the computers there did), clearing the cookies fixed it
