Im sure a few people here have notice...
I LOVE XBOXS!
for the longest time i was modding original xboxs.
slims, full case swaps, sleepers and lights all over
but recently.. i fixed up a original 360 (release model... crud.. bit of a diamond in the rough ;) )
x clamps and reshaping the frame a little makes RRODs go away for quite some time, altho get a proper lead reballing is the only guarantee :)
first thing, get rid of that DVD drive
those r like so like y2k... *yuck*
second
custom air ducting (small ducts were added within the shroud as well separating the GPU fan and CPU fan)
both rear fans have been wired directly to 12V (wails like a jet engine... but in time i will find better fans... keeps it alive :) )
i later cut a hole in the GPU fan shroud i made (from the plastic panels on a crappy sharp stereo)

also in in the rear for better airflow

added half of another 360s rear fan... also wired up to 12V :) (i guess its like 1 and a half boeings?)
lol the other half still works too :)
i had to knock down caps to fit in the xtra CPU fan (also at 12V but basically silent)

i also internalized the HDD, im thinkin a TB drive would be nice... although thats outa my reach at the moment. damn bills... :)
right now im using the internal drive to load games (semi stock 20Gb)

It's not so much taboo'd on the site, it's taboo'd in general. Hacking a companies firmware is a no-no by their standards, however much fun it may be. >=D

I was talking about the hdd save file method that microsoft includes in the 360's programming, not hacking the firmware or anything else like that. sorry for the misunderstanding.
