A 1TB SSD that goes in a PCI-E slot (http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=RES01TE&title=Super-Talent-RAIDDrive-ES-1TB-RAID0-PCI-Express-x8-Solid-State-Drive-SLC)
What do you think it costs?

OCZ (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227500) has one on Newegg for a lot less. Wonder what the difference is?

Yea OCZ has had these for a while.

The difference is that the Super Talent one can read and write up to 1.4 and 1.2 Gigabytes per second respectively, while the OCZ on can only read and write up to 870 and 780 Megabytes per second.

I think it's brilliant. The potential there is awesome. And it'd hel drive all related technologies such as graphic cards.
But, I still see too many benefits with traditional connectivity methods. (SATA)

Super Talent seems to have all their eggs in order. If their 32GB Pico flash drives aren't enough evidence of what the company has to offer, then nothing can convince you.

I mentioned in another thread that I think PCIe SSDs are the future since no other connectivity technology in PCs can touch that bandwidth. PCIe SSDs have been around for probably 5 years or more in the enterprise market but now you and I can buy them if we want to plunk down the moolah. In another 5 years I'll bet these will be fairly common in high end PCs and a bit friendlier on the wallet.

So it's faster than eSATA?

Yep, when PCIe 3.0 is released in just a bit, x16 lanes will have a peak bandwidth of 32GB/s whereas eSATA 3.0 peaks at 600MB/s...
PCIe trounces everything. Future OSs won't even need to include an hourglass cursor...

FTFY. PCIe 3.0 is 1GBps per lane, not 2. Still, way more than the 750MBps max possible with SATA III. :D

Yeah, the chart I referenced listed 32GB/s as a bi-directional bandwidth. It does say it's 1GB/s per lane right next to it...which doesn't make sense to me. I assume that means it 'reads' and 'writes' at the same time, which is impressive, so I included that figure.

I teared up a little when I saw the performance specs.
