View Full Version : Why does only UPS kill me on shipping?

I recently bought an 8-port KVM switch on eBay to add into a miniature "server farm" of 6 computers my dad wants to build for rendering video at his work.

Anyway, the thing ended up costing me about $40, but then I was charged $30 shipping. I was okay with that I guess, since I got the switch for significantly cheaper than a new one from stores near me.

Then when the box came, I got charged another $35 dollars for some bull**** import tax. This is not the first time UPS has done this to me either.

So in the end, I paid > $65 shipping for an item being shipped from the US to Canada.

Anyone know why UPS seems to be the only company that ever charges this stupid tax? I've ordered things from the US and other countries before (not through UPS) and have never been charged extra.

Usually the only time that you don't pay agent/broker fees is if it's shipped with the postal service or the sender chooses the option to have the fees billed to them. If you want something imported from the US and sent by USPS so you don't have to pay the fees, I can do that for you.

I don't know about extra taxes but I know UPS screws up in the U.S. too. I paid for 3 day shipping a week ago and I'm still waiting for my stuff.

The extra fees are for imports only.

I hate UPS; they are not at all careful with their packages.
