Battlefield Heroes used to be great (although it is a third person shooter, not an FPS) until they decided to sell people more powerful weapons for real money. Now everyone who chooses not to pay them just gets owned. I started playing it while it was in the beta stage, and used to do well pretty consistently with my sniper, but now I finish near the bottom almost every single game. It especially ticks me off because originally they specifically said that you would not be able to buy performance enhancing items for money, only items to customize your character's look, but they have gone back on their word.
Also, I'm slightly disappointed that they did not include Alien Arena. It is incredibly fast paced, but a ton of fun.

Enough negativity from me. I especially like the look of Combat Arms. Hopefully I will have time to try it out soon.

Combat Arms is awesome. I gotta download it again. There are some people out there that like to glitch like they do in SOCOM. They let you buy upgrades but I think just like the stuff you buy with the points you earn it has an expiration date on it.

Wolfenstein was good in its day. They also left out Americas Army 3.

America's Army used to be my all time favorite. Havent really tried to new one, but I played AA(2?) for a long time. I loved how they had the whole trainning exercise before you could use some of the classes. (The last SF Exercise took me forever to do lol)

Soldat (http://soldat.prv.pl/) is another free shooter that's been around for a long while. It's not 3d but it's fun as hell.
