This will be my biggest mod to date. I have learnt a lot through my past 2 cases and I *think* that I am ready to embark on something a little more interesting!

System spec:

Motherboard: ABIT GD8 Intel 915P ATX
CPU: 3.0GHz P4 OC @ 3.6GHz
GPU: Gigabyte Geforce 7900GTX 512mb
PSU: Antec SmartPower 2.0 500W
memory: 1Gb pc3200 DDR ram
Hard drive: 80GB SATA seagate Barricuda
Optical drive: generic DVD-rom
Other drives: Koutech 3.5" Floppy Drive & Multi Card Reader unit

Initial ideas:

matte black paint, blue lighting.
mirror beneath GPU to show custom graphic design on heatsink.(I dont like the current design)
15" LCD mounted in back of case: psu and controls for lcd located in 3.5" bay
mesh or tinted plexy window
Some type of keyboard and mouse storage in case. Probably keyboard slotting in top of case with straps to hold it in.
black acrylic plate with the word 'Shadow' cut out of it. UV reactive blue acrylic put behind the cut out word so that it glows.
2x uv blue exaust fans at the back, no intake fans (grills on front bezel)

I figure that with dual fan psu, 2 exaust fans, and the exaust of my 7900GTX, it will suck the air through the front pretty well. Would the 2 blue fans even be neccesary? I want to keep the noise to a minimum on this case!

Im going to be having a lot of wires in this system so Im going to have to realy work out my cable management. This will deffinately be a focus point as I want the case to look clean and cool.

Come on then, give me your suggestions/comments! :D

The virgin case:

Today I worked out a first plan for the LCD screen system.
The converter board and the backlight's board had to be next to the lcd as their wires cannot be lengthened. There wasn't room for the power board though so I am housing that in a drive bay and lengthening the wires to the other boards. Is there anything that I should watch out for here? apart for electricuting myself! hah!

I need to know one thing which will be very important. Does the power supply for the lcd need to be grounded or something? Ive heard about that somewhere but I don't know how I would do it. I plan to have it housed in a plexy case with venting and a small fan to cool it.

Heres some pics of a cardboard mockup of 2 sides of the psu housing. These pics just show where everything is going to go, although I havn't decided where to put the butons to control the lcd, any suggestions? Theyre too wide to go in the drive bay! :(

Well plenty of stuff you can do with this, it has alot of fan space though, nice screen good luck! It is good to see someone else from the Uk and where did you get that screen?

I got the screen from my uncle. I did some furniture moving for him - about an hours work, and he gave me a 15" lcd monitor! :D

Funny you should mention that, I just trod on the back of an old sound card (a REALY old turtle beach card so it doesnt matter that it broke!) and OUCH. hundreds of pin pricks in my heel!

Anyway. I have done the measurements for the LCD on the case, and double checked it all. I'm going to have to trim down a few lumps on the mobo tray as well but there shouldnt be any problems!:D All I need now is a dremel!

I have decided to scrap the keyboard holder idea and use the 'shadow' text idea on the top of the case. I will use a laser cutter machine thingy to cut the word 'Shadow' out of a black peice of acrylic, mount it in the top of the case, affix a peice of uv blue plexy behind it and light it with 2 small UV lights! Thats the plan anyway!
Which text do you think looks better?

or do you know a font which would be better?
And yes I know about making bridges for the islands in the text so that wont be a problem.

Peace

I was gonna say, font 1 is a little overused. But 3 looks sweet :)

Im actualy thinking either number one or number 2 now! I recon that number 2 would work best with uv blue behind it as 1 might be too detailed for it to be seen well unless you were straight above it! I'll get both cut and see which one i like best haha! :D
