Yeah, so I was trying to figure out how to get USB tethering working with Ubuntu so I could have an internet connection on my laptop while my desktop is being torn apart. I figured I would probably have to mess around with some stuff, get a custom driver, something.

Nope!

I plugged it in, added a new 'Mobile Broadband' network profile (about 5 clicks and only required very basic knowledge), and I'm connected! Posting this now from my laptop, tethered with my N900. :D

Nice. It took me like 45 minutes to get root on my G1 and install a new ROM that supported tethering. There were a million steps.

I think most verizon handsets and smartphones allow tethering directly, correct me if I'm wrong.

I can create a wireless hotspot and connect multiple devices though. :D

Last time I create a hotspot I had 5 people trying to WPA crack the **** out of it. Guess it was my fault since I was at a technology conference, what could I expect :p .
