What are some good geeky movies I should add to my Netflix Queue? What about awesome War movies. Must see Documentaries?

Dead Poets Society is my all time favourite movie... Add to that everything Kevin Smith ever directed, and it should keep you going for a while. Make sure though, that you get them in the order he made them - it helps :p

if they have it, "the Omega Man" just saw it yesterday and it was great. it's one of the several movies "i am Legend" is based off of.

If you are a fan of Scottish werewolves, there's "Dog Soldiers", which I think is one of the greatest werewolf movies ever made.

The Station Agent.
I would have never went to see this film if the wife didn't have to see it and write a report about it for one of her classes. I am glad I did.
Take my opinion with a grain of salt though. I hate most hollywood releases (Sherlock Holmes put me to sleep, Avatar was mostly lame (glad I didn't buy the hype and see it in the theatre and I am still annoyed that I even wasted my netflix $$ on it).

Primer (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Primer/60034782) is an independent movie, that was extremely low budget (as in $7000), but has brilliant storyline. Mindblowing is an excellent adjective for it.
Mindhunters (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Mind_Hunters/60033293) not sure if it fits the whole "geeky" genre, but a great thriller in my opinion.
Moon (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Moon/70112500) Saw this on Max this month. I thought it had an interesting story with a bit of a twist.
Then of course there are some of the classics!
Forbidden Planet (1956) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Forbidden_Planet/516788)
Fantastic Voyage (1966) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Fantastic_Voyage/70067686)
The Andromeda Strain (1971) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/The_Andromeda_Strain/256317)
The Andromeda Strain (2008) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/The_Andromeda_Strain/70070309) - This is a modern update, that I believe was broken into 2 - 2 hour movies. I saw part of it and it seemed to hold pretty true to the original and the book.
Westworld (1973) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Westworld/1112786)
Logan's Run (1976) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Logan_s_Run/709163)
Fahrenheit 451 (1966) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Fahrenheit_451/489248)
This Island Earth (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/This_Island_Earth/1040500) Its got the professor from Gilligan's Island in it! Actually its pretty terrible, but if you get this (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Mystery_Science_Theater_3000_The_Movie/789448) it makes it soo much better. :)
If you like a little SciFi in your war movie.. The Final Countdown (1980) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/The_Final_Countdown/60036888) was a pretty decent watch.
Some semi humorous ones...
Space Truckers (1997) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Space_Truckers/1190898)
The Ice Pirates (1984) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/The_Ice_Pirates/70020511)
Not necessarily classics but worth checking out...
The Quiet Earth (1985) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/The_Quiet_Earth/70049577)
Escape from New York (1981) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Escape_from_New_York/60002839)
Outland (1981) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Outland/835381)
Saturn 3 (1980) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Saturn_3/934280)
Silent Running (1971) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Silent_Running/965011)
Dark Star (1974) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Dark_Star/17077975)
A Boy and His Dog (1975) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/A_Boy_and_His_Dog/60028811)
Battle Beyond the Stars (1980) (http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Battle_Beyond_the_Stars/60003922)
That should keep you busy for a little while.. :)

I just watched this film has not yet been rated. great doc on the film industry rating system and how corrupt it is.

Dude...I thought Sherlock Holmes was great. I mean, seriously, how often does a movie contain Bartitsu?

Or a Windows PC, or a Mac, or a PS3, or a Wii, or a system running Boxee, or a Roku box, or a few random DVD/BD-players, or some of the latest Tivo's...I think that's it... :P
As far as movies, let's see, a few off the top of my head..
geeky:
WarGames
Hackers
Swordfish
Iron Man
District 9
Dr Strangelove
other:
Redline - Kinda light on plot, but lots of fast cars and a decent amount of fighting and explosions. And besides, any movie that ends with a race on the streets of LA(?) between a Ferrari Enzo and a Kounigsegg CCX can't be all bad. ;)
Gone in 60 Seconds
The Fast & the Furious (at least the first 2...personally I liked them all, but I know that's not a very common sentiment)
Inglourious Basterds (2009)
Inglorious Bastards (1978, pretty good, kinda campy..or I might be remembering the wrong movie..)
The Taking of Pelham 123
Eagle Eye
Surrogates (interesting take on a strange future)
Mongol (life of Ghengis Khan)
Valkyrie (alternate history Nazi killing fun :D )
Zombieland

I'll second Iron Man. I thought it'd be another dumb superhero movie, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it's actually a good flick. I liked the new Star Trek movie too.
Incidentally my LG Blu-ray player (Bd-390 I think) wirelessly streams netflix. Just streamed Red Baron last night in HD. Unfortunately I missed half the dialogue because the sound balance was really bad, but it looked fantastic. Movie itself was just ok, but part of that might have been due to not being able to hear half of what was said.
As for other suggestions, there was this trilogy back in the late 70's/early 80's...what was it called...Stars? something like that. Wars in the Stars? no...umm...Star Fights...oh wait. Star Battles. no, that's not it either, that sounds more like something you'd see on E! channel. Or Jerry Springer. Oh yeah! Star Wars. That's a good one. Or so I've heard. Never seen it myself. ;)
I'll also second Gone in 60 Seconds. Not the most original plot, but some pretty amazing cars, and one helluva car chase at the end. Totally unrealistic car chase, but fun nonetheless.

lol. We just sat through Hurt Locker too and I can NOT believe it won an academy award... I mean the move was not too bad, but not that good either. I think it was lacking any real plot.

Gone in 60 Seconds. The original not the crappy new one. Best chase scene ever, one hero car used through the whole chase.

I got some good ideas in this thread...
http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2720
Ah! I'd forgotten about it, but I'll second the suggestion in that thread for 'World's Fastest Indian (http://www.netflix.com/WiMovie/The_World_s_Fastest_Indian/70043295?strackid=43463909ff5fa299_0_srl&strkid=422123817_0_0&trkid=438381)'. Great movie, that. It's based on the life of Burt Monroe, who set the world speed record for sub-500cc vehicles in 1967 (I think that was the right class). Great movie about human ingenuity and perseverance. (BTW, if anyone's wondering, the 'Indian' in the title refers to the motorcycle used, not a person.)
