Snake skin look?

I saw one of those motorcycle shows (I think it was OCC) where they paint a bike to look like snake skin. They laid a base color, then wrapped the bike in fishnet stockings and sprayed a coat over that. When they removed the stockings it looked like snake skin.

Anyone recall that or know how to do it? It would be waaay cool on a computer case.

An easier way would be to use water transfer film but you'd be looking at ~120 bucks to get started.
