well...i just started my job at a machine shop...about 2 months ago....making custom hot rod parts......lookin around the shop has given me some inspiration for it....this is my first major mod that will be planned out..*looks in closet*..not just winged like my past ones

ok so i got some picture to upload ..but they are on my phone and i cant get my bluetooth adapter to install correctly...but im stuck in coming up with ideas....

i dont know what to do with the left panel of the case...ive got the right covered well..with the water cooling and such

got any suggestions?

I'm putting a nice Blackout laser etch from http://www.hyperkore.com in my P180's left side. If you can get the pics of what you've got so far and your ideas, maybe something will come from that.

mounting them i will use this part we make called a column drop...made for the steering column...but im gonna mod them for my use...

ill be using 2 of those on each res....but without the two notches in the hole...

to bring the coolant in ill be using 2 plates with fittings ....

So you're saying the resevoirs will mount inside that opening? Isn't that kind of small or am I not seeing things in perspective?

yeah...its just perspective....i plan on settin the offset for it to be an exact fit for the res...that one may be a little smaller....we make different ones for different size columns

It'd look just as good no matter what the color of the case honestly. The blackout windows (Version 1) are blacked out except for the etch, if you throw some blue LaserLED's into the case then the etch will glow blue too.

as for the cooling system on this...i plan on usin blue 5/8 ID hose...and some 5/8-1/2 fittings........gonna go with a top mounted blackice 2...and ill find somethin nifty to do with than intake on the top.....sound good?

Sounds great to me. We just ordered in a Zalman Reserator 1 Plus for one of our projects, I've never done a water cooled rig myself so this will be a first attempt. :) I've been scared to try until now but since this rig is for my dad, oh well, his loss if I screw it up. <lol>

so ive done some idea brewing for this case... and i think ive got a few to come...the main thing i came up with is usin an aircleaner cover to in clost the radiator...then cut 2 holes for the 120mm fans for it...the for the bottom part of the cleaner cover...pretty much cut it all away around the radiator...making some custom mounts to hole the radiator/cleaner cover up away from the case about an inch....then covering that with some mesh.......ill try to get a drawing up to help explain it a bit:D

I know exactly what you mean. I actually used an Edelbrock breather (similar to an air cleaner like you're talking about) as part of a HSF I built. Here's a neat trick though, put LED's inside the filter (if it's the kind with the white filter liner around the sides) it looks SICK!

i think the only problem i have with usin the airfilter to cover up the insides....the thickness of the radiator and fans....i guess ill see about that once i get that far...but as of right now.....im thinkin ill use something like metal flashing and just bend it around to fit....or mebbe i can just mod the air filters:p

either way...i still need to get me a new work bench...my dad donated mine when we moved...so i havent been able to mod for about 4 months now...and its startin to drive me insane....so now im workin my ass off cleanin the garage so i can have a place to put in a bench

Well that's what I did, I modded the breather to work as a heatpipe HS. It worked just fine. Of course this isn't a car filter, it's just a small breather. Similar to this but with the filter on the sides visible.

alright...ive pretty much hit a wall as far as ideas......ive got my cooling and such all down....
i just dont know what to do with the left side panel....anyone got an idea as far as a window shape that would look good for a hot rod theme?

The problem with having such a large window on a P180 is that you actually see very little: http://www.antec.com/productImageInside.php?ProdID=81800 Unless you decorate/hide/mod the side of the cages and bays, I don't think having such a large window will add to it. As the mobo is top left, you might just restrict the window to that area, just my thoughts though.

i would make the window with a flame design. also it would be super cool if you would make the resevoirs look like Nitrous Oxide Tanks

how good are you at etching, i know its not that hard my first timne was fine, so you could always etch a hot rod into the window, flames are goodbut they are done soo many times

as for the window......im thinkin ill use some tinted acrylic....the case is gonna be pretty much blue black and chrome


whats silver on the case is gonna be blue.....black is gonna stay....and chrome... thats where the water cooling comes in...

im wantin to stay away from flames...as said they are waay too over done......

the bottom harddrive bay will be converted to hold my waterpump the res will be mounted externally....ido plan on modding the bottom harddrive rack...but i dont know about the top and the cd drive bay...ill try to get the hang of sketchup...give you a better view of the inner workings of my head

why mod the p180? ur going to ruin the near silent capabilitys. if u want to mod a case, never mod one made to be silent. just my 2 cents.

I did check it out Hotrod, correct? But recently there have been some compatibility issues which some reviewers have highlighted such as PSUs not fitting and so on.

yeah... the PSU cables are short.... with most...but thankfully im a modder and can work around that

Can't wait to see what you can come up with for this case. I have the same one and i know the problems you will have... like the 3 layer thick door panel and the horrible cable management. I myself will be starting to mod it in a few weeks time (when i finish my current mod.) The window design is looking good and with the drive cages removed you will actually see a lot.
