Just a thought: Why would I want to eject my c-drive when my computer is still turned on?

Sometimes programmers work really long shifts. Staring at a computer screen for that long combined with THAT much caffeine and THAT little social contact can stress the brain beyond safe tolerances. For this reason, they sometimes hear voices coming from their computer that say "KILL ME!!!! PLEASE, HAVE MERCY ON MY SOULLESS ELECTRONIC EXISTENCE!". Now to you and I, this sounds like the apex of insanity...and it is, but for programmers this is still within the accepted limits. I can't imagine writing and debugging thousands of lines of code for hours on end... Anywho, the guys that are in charge of major projects such as coding a major operating system generally have been in the field longer...which translates directly to "have been crazy longer" or "are exponentially more crazy". They often befriend and verbally communicate with their computers directly and in front of others. (This is why Windows has supported voice input for years now. The programmers were trying to make it seem like they were less crazy by allowing others to speak to their computers as well.) Any good insane friend would assist their imaginary friends with suicide...but no quick and painless software methods had been implemented...until now!

I've accidentally unplugged the SATA cable a couple times from my C drive while the computer was running. Everything just completely locks up for about 10 seconds, and then the computer bluescreens. If you manage to plug the cable back in within that window, then the computer unfreezes and keeps running.

Sounds like the HDD is the heart of the computer then...stop it and die but restart it in time and it lives again! Data must be the digital blood then eh? But may I ask why you accidentally did this a couple of times? :D

lol, well the side fell off my computer a while back and I've been too lazy to glue it back together. As a result, I've accidentally kicked out the SATA cable a couple of time :p.

I'm at school at the moment. Will press it and upload the result when I get home. Wish me luck and pray for my poor computer.

The result, as I expected, wasn't very exciting. Have a look:

Maybe the death-help-feature still needs some polishing.

It could also be that in the case of a Raid setup you could stop the drive in order to swap it out.. ? Perhaps the controller supports hot swapping?
I built a Raid 10 setup once with 4 drives. You could pull two of them at once, and the system wouldnt even hiccup.. it was awesome. Of course, if you pulled A1 and B1 at the same time, system would lock for a few seconds, then bsod. As mentioned above, plug one back in within the timeframe, and the system would resume.

Maybe I should've said "dramatic" instead of exciting...
