As the title says, i'll be doing some assets, that is almost ANYTHING that can be fitted on a computer, starting with fans, to water pumps, mobos...
the thing is, it will be done, but I want to know if you guys are interested in this, so I can release 'em to the community, and more important, the technical bits of the assets.
I need to know the measurement system(imperial or metric), the scale(if you want the things be 1/1 or to what scale) and last but not least, the max polycount (as if you can go with limited polys or as detailed as it can get)
well that is.
If you are wondering why? well let's say that this has been in my mind for time now, and i've finally got the time to do it and do it good.
Also, if you want any custom or non standard asset, drop me a line (here or pm) and I'll see if I can deliver.
C ya!!

This sounds like a great idea. This would make it much easier for people new to 3D modeling/design to put together a decent representation of their mod with minimum cursing.
What software/file type are you using?

I'm using Rhino3D, so, i can export to almost any format
I was wondering, what would be the most common format.
I can even put multiple versions of each model, but the archive size will increase.
Anyway I'm open to suggestions, so feel free to post your ideas about this subject.

Not just people new to 3D, but even us experienced people who are too lazy to make some of those things ourselves....

Sketchup will be the most popular format to export them to.

Sorry the crappy renders, but they are wips and I don't feel like waiting 20 mins for each render...
on a more important subject, what do you think I have to do first, fans, psus, mobos and such or comercial products, you know like zalmann coolers DangerDen waterblock... coz it has been driving me mad, I really don't know where to start...
ooo and btw hope you like this!!!

First, your renderings are fine. This is TBCS, not Pixar!
I would start with stuff like generic fans, heatsinks, radiators, pumps, HDDs and other components. Then maybe do some generic motherboards or graphics cards. If you do specific things right off the bat people aren't as likely to be able to use them. If they can throw generic models into their scene that work, they might then request something specific from you.
Also, those look pretty high poly...which isn't necessary. Moderate poly counts with high quality textures (if applicable) will look just as good unless they're rendered extremely close. Sacrificing a bit of detail for ease of use is a fair trade.:)

Looks really nice. I never make things this detailed when I plan things, for example for fans I use a single 120x120x25 solid block ^^, but this way you can really see how it will turn out.

Thanks for the input!!!!
@ mDust: +rep pal... that really helps a LOT!!!, about polycount, hehehehe the magic of NURBS...
@ Diamon: then i assume that you will be using the 120 fan I'll be supplying???

I definitely will the next time I make blueprints. Please export to SolidWorks format though. + rep for awesome models by the way.
