So, I was looking for a good source for bulk magnet wire for my coil gun project, and I ran across this site. Some of their stuff (particularly wiring and electrical components) has prices ranging from great to pretty good, though some of their other stuff is pretty expensive. They have a LOT of old stuff though, tubes, meters, relays, radar equipment.., various old scopes, signal generators, random parts, etc. Lots of really interesting stuff.

I also noticed that they have a wide array of sizes of various kinds of heatshrink tubing, some as small as 0.016 (0.4mm) diameter!

+ REP

I need to buy some single stranded hook up wire to make custom jumpers with.

On a side note I came across an ebay auction the other day that was selling 100 super bright red leds + 200 resistors of your choosing for $1 + free shipping

Guess who now has about 450 super bright red leds and almost 1000 free resistors? Its like they counted the first 200 and then just scooped the rest with an ice scoop. Same with the resistors. They tore them off of reels in about 140-160 resistor strips.

Yes, who is this mysterious eBay seller? Methinks they need more business. :D

So, last night I placed an order with this surplus place..
100 feet 12 AWG enamel coated magnet wire
100 feet 18 AWG enamel coated magnet wire
100 feet 18 AWG PVC insulated stranded wire
100 feet 26 AWG teflon insulated stranded wire
20x 4A 60V 65W NPN transistors
4x 5A 700-1500V 125W NPN transistors
2x 0.01 Ohm 10W resistors (testing an idea of mine....)

All for just over $100! Most other places I've looked, the wire alone would have been at least around $200. Plus, on orders over $100 and weighing under 20 pounds. I thought that it was just the normal UPS freight, but I chose UPS 3-day and it was still free! :D

The ebay seller changed the prices shortly after my purchase to $4 a set.

Also check out http://www.satistronics.com/ for cheap breadboards, and some other stuff.

http://www.virtualvillage.com/electrical also has some nice deals some times
