Hi all!
Couldn't realy decide where this should go, so if it is in the wrong place could a mod please move it! Thanks! sorry to be a pain!
Now then. I was in PCworld earlier with my mum looking at laptops (I get 10% off all toshiba laptops with my UCAS card so we were trying them out) and she actualy suggested replacing my two old 15" CRT monitors with a nice flat screen. and I quote, "Maybe if you got rid of those ugly things your room would look a little less like a slum." :D
I have a budget of 200 quid, though if it will REALY benefit me I can stretch to around 225-230. I cannot go any higher than that though. I need to find a nice flat screen monitor with a fast response time as I plan to use it for gaming. I want to be able to make the most of my 7900gtx and I dont think that I will be able to with a crappy monitor. I know NOTHING about monitors however! :( If somebody could reccomend one or help me get a better idea of what I need to look for/some good brands/types etc.
Does it realy make a big difference whether they are DVI or VGA? the card im getting has 2 DVI outputs so if it was vga I would have to use an adapter, would this be a problem?
Thanks again for your help!

Here you go mate:
Videoseven 19" TFT (http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/~102809~/product.htm?affiliate=2004)
or
AG 19" TFT (http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/~102734~/product.htm?affiliate=2004)
or
Samsung 19" TFT (http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/~93926~/product.htm?affiliate=2004)
I would go for the Videoseven or Samsung, most screens support DVI now you will just need to buy the cables!
thats not a bad monitor, but look on

Thanks everyone for such a fast response!
Samsung 19" TFT (http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/~93926~/product.htm?affiliate=2004)
I had actualy seen this on dabs and wrote the name down as a possibility! So now I am trying to decide between:
AG NEOVO F419 (http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=3JWZ)
Which is DVI but has a response time of 12ms.
and
Samsung 19"SM913N (http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=3L8R)
Which has a response time of 8ms but is VGA (my new graphics card is DVI)
Which one do I get?! AAAAAAH!
Has anyone else ever owned one of these? Im having difficulty finding any REAL screen photos or good reviews on the net! Cheers

Samsung they are a better choice, unless you can find a LG moniter!
like custom said, go for smasung (Unless you find LG)
and TBH you don't get any real peformance boost for using DVI Vs. VGA
Its just a crisper image, you only need DVI for HD really, otherwise you can get away with VGA

cheers!
So whats the deal with HD? I have played HD videos on my 10 year old (literaly) 15" crt monitor and they look absolutely stunning! Are the benefits enough to merit spending an extra 40 quid (~$80) or should I just save the money and go with vga?
I looked for LG monitors but the only one in my price range was smaller with a large response time! (I want to buy from dabs.com)

I don't know about the other monitors, but I have 2 of the AG NEOVO F419 monitors. I haven't had any problems with them and they look great. I watch movies and play games with out any ghosting. So I can say they are not a bad choice.

Thanks for all your help! I went to pcworld today (Yes, Im sorry, I sinned!) and asked them whether they would replace a monitor if it had any dead pixels - they said yes! So I have persuaded my mum that it would be more sensible to spend 230 on a nice LG 19" DVI 8ms TFT monitor from pcworld, that way I can take it back if theres any problems with it!
peace

WOAH! I went and bought the LG monitor! It's AWESOME! Realy crisp image with the DVI connector and it is HUUUUUUUGE! :D
ONE dead pixel, which is a shame! it glows blue though so you can only see it if you look REALY close and the whole screen is black! so its not a problem at all :)
Thanks for the help!

Told LG are the best when it comes to screens!!
tip for the dead pixel, find its rough location, then display a blue image, and rub the area, it should fix it
But be warned, don't rub too hard or you can cause more dead pixels
