hi, new to the site, here's my first post.

what i envision for my mod is a computer that looks like a tree (ie, bark like texture) with the bark peeled off on one side panel to reveal a honeycomb.

i also wanted to have some honey dripping down the sides of the honeycomb and here is where my question lies. What material would i use to make the "honey"? obviously it needs to be something that is a transparent yellow-gold color and which i can mold.

also if anyone has any other ideas for my project, that would be welcome.

try using something like glue, but get a yellow pigment, then mix the two, dribble it down and let to dry, once you get the style you want, lie your case flat so it dosen't dribble anymore.

Just one thing though - why would the honeycomb be inside the tree? I thought that they were on the outside of the tree in nest things? :S GRRR I realy want some honey now!:(

Ye i think your best bet would be glue try PVA its cheap easy to get you most likely have some already and drys clear so if you add a small amount of yellow dye or something along those lines you would get the effect you want.

You may try some hot glue from the hobby glue guns. It had been mentioned on another thread about making a 3d mold of a brain. I don't know if you can get it pre-colored or not, but it shouldn't be too hard to color yellow or gold with some translucent paint or dye. Good luck, this sounds interesting!

thanks for all the help. i think ill experiment with the hot glue gun and painting or adding dye.

onelegout: yea, ur rite but i imagined the tree as being hollow and they build a hive inside. i'm not really an expert on bees, but i thought it sounded like it could happen in nature
