I'm going to throw out some predictions here...

-Google internet service
-Google laptops
-Google gaming system?

-Google internet service

They're actually working on this in some cities. Ostensibly more as a proof of concept that yes, gigabit internet to the home is possible and useful, not an actual grab at starting an ISP branch, but we'll see..

Reminds me of a great video I saw, not sure how many of who has seen it but here it is: R7yfV6RzE30

It's pretty spot on.

I wish Google would provide internet here. Sometimes it's nice living in a small town, but it leaves less internet options :(

See, I don't think that's fair. Most of the stuff I've seen that they've invested in are amazing technologies that could do incredible good for the world if they were developed more...but governments and venture capital groups can be so slow and picky about meeting their agenda first. So instead, Google finds something promising and pumps millions of dollars into it. IMO, alternative energy sources aren't gonna get developed enough to be economically feasible unless private companies invest in them.

Google made incredible strides in facial recognition for the face-blurring in Google Street View and video pattern recognition with the work that they've been doing to try and weed out infringing videos on YouTube.

The feeling I get from Google overall is a bunch of geeks (meant in the best possible way) with obscene amounts of money, that try all sorts of interesting things. ...and sometimes the geek vision doesn't quite take into account the legal ramifications or people. Take the Buzz deal. As far as I know the only thing they've ever released without going through a ridiculous amount of beta..and it showed. They thought, "Hey, that twitter thing seems to be pretty popular, let's get some of that action. Oh, and I bet people will want to know what the people they email are doing!" ...aaaand they neglected to think maybe people might be..idiots? Or the Google Books thing. They thought "Hey, we're indexing all this digital data, making it into usable information. Books are hard to find information in..let's make that easier!" ....aaand they neglected to remember that publishers might not like that.

It's amazing what you can do when you don't care who's name is on it.

-That's one thing Google hasn't learned, and never will. They go out and buy everything they can.

Also, no doubt there will be a google gaming system except built into Google TV!
