.net framework error help

I was using this program recently with no issues. go to use it today and it pops up ".net framework initialization error - unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application"

any ideas?

Update your .net framework, if that fails uninstall and reinstall the program.

yea I went and downloaded the latest .net framework (version 4) and rebooted, still no go. I'll try reinstalling the program and give it a shot
