Hi there

i have been made aware that the normal clock speed for an AMD athlon XP 2400+ is supposed to be about 1.8 ghz. i have my clocked to 2.1ghz. im just wondering what a healthy temp for that should be? right now it sits at about 60 C but everything seems to work ok. is there something i should be doing here?

ya get something better...60 C is a working temprature but no it is not healthy. i would suggest you should prolly put it back down a lil...that sux for overclocking...if you really wanna you kan go way futher then that with a diff. chip. if you are interested...atleast on the amd side I would suggest a AMD 64 3200+ either 754 or 939...which ever you kan afford.

..but if you don't wanna change your cpu and platform(budget), you can buy a big 120mm heatpipe cooler :D it will surelly bring the temps down to 30-40-50 degrees centigrade range, depending on the case cooling. right now, my 2,1 ghz stays at 35 degrees... max 50 when the ambient gets hooot (my pc sits near the heater in the room, but now it's hotter woutside and i turned it off hihi). a new cooler is cheaper than another pc, and if its a good one, you'll keep it for your new pc :D

I cant even check my cpu temp :( I have tried programs like everest (best program in the world!) but the cpu temp is always completely erratic! :(
My heatsink is cold as stone though.... I figure that if my processor was at a dangerous temp then the base of my heatsink would be at least warm!
I have a p4 and I am currently overclocked at 3.6ghz (my sig lies!)
